X New York Dolls. The guy who influenced Steve Jones. |
Saw JT at Mississippi Night in St. Louis in the very late 80's. Shit show. He poured himself onto the stage. Only worse show was the Ramones who just wanted the F outta there. |

| What, no Headstones fans? Though Dillon was arguably a better actor than a frontman. Hard Core Logo was awesome. |

Nope. Our Lady Peace > Tragically Hip.
OLP has quite a few diverse tunes / albums. With the exception of Gravity, all of their albums have been good. Their older albums touched the grunge scene well and their new stuff (Healthy in Paranoid Times) is very inventive and original sounding (stepping away from grunge).
The only thing I don't like about OLP is that Raine's voice has been deteriorating over time. He doesn't sound nearly as paranoid and edgy as he used to (contrast anything off the Gravity album with Superman's Dead, Naveed, Automatic Flowers etc...).
Matthew Good is a deuschebag but his music is great. I've always been a fan of him (and I had a nice chat with him a few years back). I think the quality of his music was better than The Hip's. I wish he came out with new stuff.
That being said, all of the Tragically Hip's stuff kinda sounds the same to me.
But not as much as The Tea Party. The Tea Party sounds horrible. It's so boring and melancholy, but still, The Hip and Tea Party are significantly better than Nickelcrap.
Every song by Nickelback sounds like: "My dad... (3 chords)... hit me... nanana... So I hit him back... (3 chord solo)... then ran awwaaaaaay... nanananananananana" (ad infinitum). |

Frankie Venom he played a free concert in Hamilton I saw while on vacation. They also played a big part in the movie" The Lost Pogo"
a documentary of the early Toronto punk scene. What alot of people don't realize is punk was around in Toronto right from 1977. The early bar was known as the Crash and Burn. One of the Earliest Canadian punk songs was" I"'m tired of waking up tired by the Diodes and Screaming fist by The Viletones |

@inco
i just got into the tragically hip recently. I knew they were around, but, never gave them a chance because i thought they were the same generic bag of shit. But, I downloaded the discography one night, well actually, first i downloaded the greatest hits in order to get a feel for the band. Then i really like the greatest hits, so i jumped in with the discography. I must say I do no regret downloading that baby. Fully Completely - album... wow, i am going to put this in my top 10 albums right now. Every track just gets me fired up to do some drinking and gets me amped. I think tragically hip are more catchy then OLP, even though I havent listened to OLP to the same extent. It comes down to what kind of music each person likes. TBH i like some of nickelbacks songs, but yes, they are all the same and you can tell they are singing right away. I have never downloaded a nickleback album, but, perhaps i should someday. Im not much on new music, tbh. |
