And here I am to grant your wish. I am appalled by the gay/left horror/condemnation of Obama's choosing Rick Warren to offer a prayer at his inauguration. What part of "inclusivenness," what part of "trying to heal the breach" did these people not understand? For the record, the other preacher invited to speak at the inauguration actually supports not only gay rights but gay marriage, another position Obama doesn't agree with. |
Dear Daskalos,
What opinions might you express on this board that would be novel to me even after reading Andrew Sullivan's blog?
And I hope you realize that even though I consider the above statement to be an extremely devastating putdown, I do not harbour any ill sentiments towards you personally. |

Dear Kuros,
I've just woken up and am a bit bleary, but I don't get it, and I hate not being clear on how I've been insulted. My guess is, you find my opinions tired, unoriginal and valueless, and that I perhaps I lift them from Andrew Sullivan? Please advise if I'm anywhere near the mark here.
Trying not to feel extremely devastated,
Das
P.S. I don't read Sullivan. He agrees with my wan blatherings, then? |

Fine, I suppose it's just that I have a fundamental difference of opinion with you over what constitutes incitement. |

You're really going to have to give some evidence for this statement if you want to be taken seriously. This is turning into a real meltdown, Gopher. It seems like the republicans losing the election has unhinged you somewhat.

Ok, last time: YOU. HAVE. NO. EVIDENCE. TO. SUPPORT. THIS. ASSERTION. AT. ALL. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. ZILCH. NADDA.
You're pre-conceived notions of how "crazy" and "dangerous" the far left is (been watching too much O'Reilly, have we?) keep leading you to an outrageous conclusion based on not one shred of evidence. There is an ongoing investigation here where forensic teams will collect evidence and hopefully find out who did this stupid thing. Once we find out who dunnit, then by all means toss out wild accusation and continue to paint everyone on the left with the broad brushstroke of "baiting" nutjob while completely ignoring anything fanatical done by the right.
What do you think right wing commentators, religious leaders, and politicians are doing every time they emphasize the "Hussein" in President Elect Obama's name? What do you think those same people are doing when they insist that Obama was a secret Muslim in Indonesia? What do you think Palin is doing every time she puts "unanswered questions", "Bill Ayers", and "Barak Obama" together in a sentence? What do you think Ann Coulter's doing when she says on 9/13 to invade the Muslim countries and forcibly convert them to Christianity? What do you think Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson are doing when they say 9/11 happened because we're too tolerant of sin? Or that Katrina happened because there's gay people in New Orleans? What do you think far right groups are doing equating gay marriage with polyamory, incest, pedophilia, bestiality, sin, and the personal destruction of your and every hetero person's marriage? What do you think right wingers/republicans are doing when my patriotism/love of my country gets challenged because i disagree with the president?
Is the (far)left innocent of stupid stuff? No. But, you only seem to acknowledge one side's transgressions and blaming the other's on somehow being "baited" into saying/doing something bad. Someone putting a camera in someone's face won't make them spew racist remarks. I'd like to think that the morons doing/saying stupid shit are responsible for their own actions/remarks and not the fault of the man with the camera. I've had cameras pointed at me numerous times and i've always somehow managed to refrain from saying anything racist, ignorant and bigoted, but maybe i just have super-human-like powers of restraint.

Says the person who started this thread and blames arson on ideology with no evidence. |

| The OP, much like his beloved future in-law-of-a-drug-peddler, is quite entertaining and shouldn't be taken too seriously. |

| Gopher, do you think the person who burned down the church was black? I remember how you thought the crazy girl who faked her beating was a victim of blacks and also how blacks were going to riot if Obama won. |

No, no. He said that racism is self-correcting despite what jingly-jangly girls using racial slang have to say about it. He also endorsed proposition 8 despite his concerns about the gay penguin book overthrowing heterosexuality. His concerns about who and what Obama was bringing to the White House appear to have been placated when Michael Moore didn't end up as First Lady.
Don't strawman him. |
