What was it about Laos that you found so great? I want to visit Laos sometime.

Best country visited: Thailand hands down. Beautiful country, beautiful people, many things to do and see.
Worst country visited: Japan. Seemed a bit boring in hindsight. To be fair, I did only go to Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto for a total of 9 days; and that was in the middle of winter too.
I liked Sri Lanka a lot (I was there a month), so definetely worth another visit. |

Australia (spent 5 month driving an old clapped out campervan through the red centre, was incredible)
UK, France, Holland, Spain, Greece, Turkey.
Japan next month.
Best place - Sapa in Vietnam closely followed by north Sichuan province around Songpan, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong |

As you can see I'm pretty much a novice traveler. Which is why I can't wait for the move to Korea (first day of work is Jan. 12). I can't wait to visit as much of Asia as I possibly can. Cambodia and Thailand look awesome. |

Well if I'm not totally jealous right now! Geez! I've got some catching up to do!!!
Other than the 30 some odd states in the US I've been to, I've only been out of the country once, and that was to Italy. I spent a month there and it was beautiful.
The plan after my first year in Korea is to backpack through Europe. I'll be sure to come back and update my list after that!!!!!  |

U.S. States: California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, New York, Florida
Why would anyone want to visit more than a dozen or so states in the U.S.? I'm not trolling--I saw no reason to go to Indiana or Ohio, for example. (They're flyover for a reason, amirite?) |

You spent 5 months in the centre of Aus? Did you get Iost? |
lol. I guess I should have said we stopped and worked for a bit and that also included the south coast (great ocean road) and up to Sydney. Oh and a couple of those weeks were probably spent waiting around while the crappy campervan was sitting in the mechanics. I remember having to top up 1-2 litres of engine oil every day as it was leaking all over the road. |

Aah ok then. I would've been a bit concerned if you actually spent it all in the centre. I love that part of the country but wouldn't be able to spend that much time there without getting a job!
If your car doesn't have an oil leak then it's not a real touring car I say. Lol. |

I thought I was fairly well traveled until I read this forum
Almost every nook and cranny in Mexico as we drove an old VW Bus from Newport Beach, CA to Mexico City and back. My parents were not pleased. In subsequent years we drove down on family vacations to all weird parts of Baja when I had my kids so we could stay at the beach. Bribery is still alive and well in Mexico as you never know who you are going to meet at immigration visa time. It's bizarre. Very sad but true, and to this day it still exists.
Backpacked through most of western Europe in the old days as well.
Lived and traveled extensively through England (forgot to do the southeastern part), Ireland, Scotland and Wales - most extensively through Wales, approximately three years as an older adult. I have always loved Edinburgh though. I've been there way too many times, but I still get a shiver when I see Edinburgh Castle.
And as I'm a Yank, have not been to not that many states -- California (native born), Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Colorado. Colorado is awesome, especially if you're a mountain type. Scenery is spectacular. I have no excuse not to visit the east coast as my aunt lives in a ritzy area of Arlington, Virginia. It's just something that I haven't done yet. Although, in the States, San Francisco is my favorite city to visit. I like the ocean, clam chowder, the best sour dough bread on earth, and a short drive to arguably (LOL) the best vineyards as in Napa on the planet. Life doesn't get much better. Very happy that I have two daughters that live in the city and will put up with "Mom" for a few days a year when I visit. |
