So let me ask all the people out there, what is the most romantic thing you ever done for your wife, girlfriend, or soon to be hopeful girlfriend? Did they enjoy it? How did it make you feel?
I just curious how romance differs from cultures.
Also girls: you can say what you done for the men of your life!!!! |

The most romantic thing I ever done was teach my significant other how to use the word "have". After that, we never looked back.

I recently arranged for a couple of local lads to jump on bass and drums while i sang a rocked-out love song to my girl in a packed-out bar (it was her birthday, so there was a cake as well).
Unfortunately, a drunken sod kept getting in the line of sight (between me and the girlie) and that kinda diminished the romance. Sounded good, though.
It was obvious that we'd been practicing for a week or two, so the effort was the real gift (as opposed to talent, if any). |

The most romantic thing I have done recently was offer my g.f a bottle of coke and a chocolate bar after I fucked up the night before. She slammed the door in my face.
I need help. badly. |

Walked 22 miles (Haydock to Manchester - along the East Lancs Road if you live around there) to deliver a handwritten letter! This was 1992 and the days before the internet. Why didn't I post it? It was the holidays and I was going back to camp!
I was young and in the army so I was capable of it! The bitch dumped me a few weeks later though so it was all in vain! |

She was sick on a Friday so I got home from school and went over to see her. She said she wanted me to stay, but I had to go across the road and pick up some stuff from a friend at 7.30pm so told her I would be back soon. Got on the piss and didn't go back to her apartment until 11.30pm. She had a bad stomach upset so the next day I thought the best thing would be to take her over some coke and chocolate to say sorry.
Honestly don't know where my mind is at these days.. |

There actually is some science and art to being romantic.
I'm gonna shoot myself in the foot here, feeding my competition but.... here's some of the science to it.
1) Ok first, make her think you're about to do something romantic, Not so romantic, but mildy... (I will use the example of what I did with my girlfriend now.) I told the girl I liked, I'd meet her at the subway station, she told me in advance she would be coming back from Seoul and I would meet her at the station. Told her I wanted to talk to her privately, and not to tell her friends (as you can see I'm setting her up to think I'm gonna say something like, "I like you, will you go out with me"). Create this kind of expectation, but leave SOME doubt !!!. Make her guess. It's wildly fun.
2) AND THEN! Here's the fun part for the guys make her think you are the most thoughtless, assholely guy in the world. So when I met my now girlfriend , I told her: "Ok good thing I get to see you. You look good. The reason I wanted to meet you is so that I could tell you I could teach you English for a lower rate. I told you not to tell anyone so that I won't get in trouble with your friends. I will charge them a higher rate. (See nows she's kinda dissapointed and a little mad) My girlfriend, oh my god you should have seen her face. She was about to cry I think... hahahahah awsome. I wanted to laugh in her face so hard... lol
3) And then, suprise her. This is boring for and cheesy for me... Yawn. But she likes it so whatever.... What I did, while we were walking out of the train station, I pulled her aside for a minute to a bench. and asked if we coudl sit, said I was tired. And then, while we were sitting. I reached beyond me to a carefully rose in a bush, and pulled it out on the other side of her. She saw it in the corner of her eye and she was like "what the hell is that".
4) And then, build some mystery.... Keep her guessing.
I gave it to her, and said NOTHING. Not a word, I just kept walking. So she followed me naturally. I gave her a come hither look of course. Took her to a dunkin donuts (kind of anti-clamatic there).
At DD she finally fessed up she liked me. And then we sat down and talked. But thats not the end of it fellas.
5) It's like hunting. Once you shoot your target, you gotta make sure it's dead. SO.. she went to bathroom for a sec. I had purchased a silver necklace and threw it in her bag. The next day she messaged me and was like "DID YOU PUT THIS NECKLACE IN MY BAG?" Of course I said no, and teased her a bit saying "Are you sure it wasn't another guy? You must have a ton of guys going after you...". After that, she was all mine :>
Let HER DOWN! HARD! Make her think you are the biggest asshole in the world. MAKE HER WANT TO HIT YOU IN THE FACE. And then, show her it was all part of the plan. She'll hate you for it....
Women are all about emotion, if you show you have some power over how they feel, they will be puddy in your hands...
Now if only I could figure out a romantic christmas gift..... I'm thinking I'll just really dissapoint her with a broom. hahahahaha |

This was for my wife.
Unfortunately our meeting wasn't terribly romantic, then my proposal was buggered up by interfering parents.
So I had to do something nice before we got hitched and she decided I was the least romantic guy alive.
My friend has a band, they're pretty good so I asked if they'd play for our wedding party. I thought I'd show the Koreans what a real wedding party was. I booked a club, invited all the friends, bought lots of Johnnie Walker.
I also had the band practice one of her favourite love songs by the Cure. Kinda cheesy, but it was one that we listened to together. She had never heard me sing before and wasn't expecting me to sing. I got up, we gave her a seat in front of the stage, I told her the song was for her...then sang away.
It was a great moment to tell her how much I loved her and let every one know that she was the one for me, give her a big kiss in front of all those attending the wedding and thank every one for sharing our special day.
It was something I had thought about for a long time and was really the only thing I really wanted to do on my wedding day.
It was kind of a dream come true....and I never expected I would get the chance to do it. I'm really happy it worked out. |

Well she says she lives at home with her parents. She says her parents have never met a foreigner as well as her 2 brothers and 1 sister. So I think that intimidates her.
She drives an hour to see me, stay the night, then drives home, calls every day. But yea sometimes it is hard to figure out her mind. I not sure if it is a cultural thing.
But since the topic is romance: At least for her the most romantic thing I have done for her was on her birthday. I got her a cake, and had a western bar full of people sing to her. Afterwards took her to a spa hotel with wine. I had some roses on the bed.
I bought her a bookshelf. Yea weird but thatsd what she wanted. No jewlery or clothes, like most western women would love.

lol, I would ask her to marry me, but lol I think she has to be my girlfriend 1st. |

As a girl I like small gestures- I get too embarrassed by grand romantic moments.
One of the best things was when I came home and my boyfriend had put together my new IKEA furniture
Or when he'd show up at my place with a bunch of food and sweets.
That was back in Montreal though. |
