I use this consolidator of search sites often:

http://www.bookingwiz.com/air.asp?searchType=air&process=referrer&mic=d89ruye&fm_type_trip=2&fm_air_Departing_Location=icn&fm_air_Destination_Location=bkk&fm_air_departure_full_date=09/11/2008&fm_air_return_full_date=09/15/2008&fm_air_Adults=1&fm_air_Children=0&fm_creativeid=I005&fm_xml=

It gives me prices around $420 ICN-BKK in February.

BTW, why are people mentioning AirAsia? They don' fly from Korea...

$419 For ICN to BKK the 2nd week of January on AirChina.

The layovers are quite brutal however. I will have intimate knowledge of the Beijing airport.

How long is the layover? 12 hours?

Yikes, Air China is now quoting Won 1,668,200 to 2,920,700!!! And that's a lowest fare search instead of flexible. Taxes are 400,000 won of these amounts.

Mobissimo reports $624, but when I select it, I get an error saying it's timed out when it's a fresh inquiry. This indicates the fare is not available.

Thai Airways reports 787,000 won, down from 792,000 yesterday. That's the best I've found in checking regularly for 2 months.

I just wanna go enjoy some warm weather, great food, and explore Burma for a week while I'm at it.

Long enough. Should have just gone with the Thai Air deal that Jeff Cigerettes was talking about.

Screw that....there's absolutely zero to do or even buy at that airport as well. Not to mention all the paperwork they make you complete just to stopover. I'm surprised they don't make you get a visa..I would check if I were you. Flew them once but never will again.

Yes it's going to suck, but it's the cheapest (and I am a cheap guy) I could find on short notice. It's a little embrassing to admit but I have had longer layovers....I'll just bring a book (or 5).

I read that I won't need a visa as long as the transit time is less than 12 hours.

Not too bad when you consider you already blow these amounts of time on buses, trains, sleeping, and waiting in lines. It's common to have to wait 4 to 8 hours in American airports for connecting flights and then wait over 3 hours for an international flight so I'm used to waiting around. Shoot, I'll take this flight for $418 and wait a few extra hours I'm probably going to have to endure at some point anyhow. I dunno how you found it, because Air China jacked up it's fares to nearly $3000 from Seoul to Bangkok.

Did you get this fare through a travel agent or Air China website itself? Consider yourself lucky on this one. Smile
