Well, I have come home for Xmas (Oz) for the first time in a very long while. One thing that I have noticed is the appearance of the local women here.
Generally speaking, the level of presentation when they are out and about is quite low compared with Korean women. Yes, it is summer (here is Oz) and the holiday season but they certainly don't take as much pride in the way they present themselves or the pride they put into the way they look. I find this very unappealling (not attractive at all).
I also found this when I visit the States (which I do every year) in Florida.

I'd try to search out the heavy immigrant areas (for lighter women), as they seem to be the exception. |

Everything in bold is bs. Jogging pants does not mean low self esteem. High heels does not mean high sense of self worth. You are trying to rationalize everything in italics, as in you don't want to make babies with them. Fine, don't make babies with them. Just remember, you have left a country where husband hunting is not only a proud occupation, it is a woman's duty. Liberation means you don't have to dress up to be eye candy if you don't want to. Neener neener neener. |
Damn straight. |

Yes, visible panty line. Wearing thongs can prevent a VPL, if you're wearing a tight skirt or pants. |
Wait, is this considered a good thing or a bad thing?
I always thought the 'VPL' (new word to me as well) was a very good thing....unless of course it is grandma panties VPL that is slightly pertruding (often the case with Korean girls) which is a BAD thing.
I always believed the women with the light white pants and visible sexy panty outlines underneath, were certainly intending to tease the guys! |

oh no! i think VPL is a huge fashion faux-pas! i never thought it was sexy, it just makes your butt looks funny with the panty line crease.
in my book it's better to avoid the VPL and have a smooth behind |

there are so many overwrought generalizations with the OP's post, I don't even know where to begin.
for starters... weight issues and fashion issues are NOT the same.
ever notice that when you lose the excess weight, ALL of your clothes look better on you?
as crusherofheads would say
it's TRUE,. it's true! it's DAMN true.
so, for starters the OP's issues with the heifferdom in Westernland and Australia is ONE thing.
re fashion, especially K - girl fashion. it's really another thing.
btw has the OP ever been in Manhattan? Where I live in Korea, you can call it the Korean version of "hick town". Lots of Koreans, with a bunch of them overweight walking around in sweats , etc.
Don't compare Seoul to your hicktown back home. Compare it to Manhattan.
re K girl fashion
do they look cute and nice to look at? SURE they do. They look like eight year old girls.
and as EVERYONE notes, they all look like the SAME eight year old girls shopping from the same store, in the same style.
B. O. R. I. N. G.
all of their clothes are designed to hide the very things Western fashion likes to flatter in women.. namely.. their womanly assets.
With K-girls... the clothes HIDE what they don't have... namely breasts, butt and hips. Just like with eight year old girls.. and what is accentuated.. namely legs.... in some cases should be covered up as well. Really pale birdlegs aren't attractive in a miniskirt. (yeah, I said it)
so whatever floats your boat OP.
give me a nice Western girl with a "phat" ass.. (as opposed to "fat" ass) in a nice fitting pair of jeans and any top where there is at least some swell at the chest section, and I will be MUCH MUCH happier and more interested in looking at her than whatever dainty little fashion(s) the K-gal is wearing...
and don't get me started on Korean male "fashion".
Ever notice some gay guys in the US who dress really really well?
They're fairies by definition but they don't dress and look like fairies... know what I mean?
btw.. last time in Seoul I noticed a young kid in a subway station with a big multicolored mohawk kind of style. It kind of looked ridiculous on him and it's so "passe" isn't it? BUT... this is Korea.. and for him to have the balls to walk around like this...
well I just wanted to shake his hand.. instead I gave him a smile and an approving kind of nod which he noticed (and hopefully appreciated). |

Obviously being on holidays I haven't sat infront of the computer but was surprised by some of the peoples comments that was made about the post.
Never, did I once mentioned fashion (yes, I know Koreans can be clones with fashion). Yes, I have been to Manhattan (some poster remarked) but also many other cities around the world were there are large Korean populations. Oh yeah, I never once mentioned weight issues either. Yes, the EC is nice in Korea. That was all that I mentioned in that line of thought.
Unfortunately, the post digressed away from its' original intention.
What I was trying to illustrate that Korean women (generalisation) when they leave there homes to go out - shopping, coffee - they dress up. But where I am (and I did mention this about Florida as well) the women don't seem to put that much effort into there appearance - clothes, hair.
Now, yes the men (Oz) here are the same as the women in that they don't put a lot of effort into the way they look. But I am a man and am attracted to women so that is why I didn't comment on the men.
Now if you all reflect for a sec. Go out to Myongdong/Hongdae etc during a Saturday afternoon. Look around. Many Korean women are dressed up i.e. wearing nice clothes. Now reflect on your home towns main shopping areas and what do you see. Yes, there might be women dressed up but many most. That was the whole point of the post.
Happy xmas all |

Koreans dont' dress up to go shopping at the local stores where I live.
but I get your point.
personally I think it's assinine to to take a lot of time to dress up etc when you're merely running around taking care of errands, etc. Not very comfortable with high heels either, don't you think?
you haven't been to Latin America though, have you?
I suggest Caracas, Venezuela.... say around the Chacao/El Rosal area.
except you won't enjoy the dainty, "nice" surroundings... you'll actually get serious wood.
and if you don't... you're dead. (you just haven't realized it yet) |

Heh heh...good question! I do find that most western men equally dress horribly. The ugly hemmed shorts, printed t-shirts, etc.
I'm living in Japan, and amazing the clothes I can find. When I visit the U.S., dressing up means those ugly collarshirts with an alligator on it (NOT good), but most often it is just printed t-shirts and hemmed longish jean-shorts and other ugly stuff.
Hard to look cool, when the chain stores carry garbage. |

I was thinking the same thing. You have all these guys whining. It's not like they are fashionable. Some American women say European men from the continent dress, in many cases, a lot better than North American
men. I think many European men are smarter dressers, but I don't see women posting about that on Dave's ESL. As long as a girl has a good attitude, and looks okay, she doesn't have to dress up or anything. |

I have a question. Is a VPL a faux paux for us dudes?
I wear dark colored underwear to hide skid marks. When I wear a white shirt and walk and sweat a lot they tend to ride up and the fruit of the loom band becomes visible though the white shirt.
I am partial to the black boxers and can't think of a better way other than sweating to rid my body of excess Cass. Is any of this fashionable or should I go back to not really giving two shits? |

Just because they dress up doesn't mean they're attractive. The girls can end up looking fake and high maintenance.
I'd love to see some kind of rockabilly/hipster aesthetic here, as much as I found it tiresome in the US. I think it'd look good on Korean girls. |

It's not quite pride that Koreans have that keep their appearance up it's the paranoia of thinking everyone is watching them and judging them. |

I totally agree that people back home don't care as much about how they look and personally I like it that way, it's so refreshing to go back to somewhere where people don't feel compelled to dress a certain way, to fit a certain image, it says a lot about how much (or little) people are affected by the media and magazines and conforming to any sort of trend or standard. I had a Korean friend say to me recently "I envy western people, they can dress any way they want to".
Now I like a well-dressed woman as much as the next guy and there is certainly a point where you can say someone has just let themselves go, but I also like a woman who can walk around in an ordinary t-shirt with minimal make up and just not always give a f*** every day of the week. |
