Hello, I am looking for a powerful drill, preferably over 9.6v and some good drill bits. I'm drilling holes in a cement wall to mount my LCD TV, but I keep breaking bits, and it seems the drill I have is not quite powerful enough.

Any leads on where to buy a really good one would help. I have a Black & Decker fairly high quality model, though it is 9.6v, I am surprised it is not powerful enough even dent the cement. Any leads on where to buy masonry bits or carbide bits would also be appreciated.

If you happen to have such a tool that you would be willing to lend, I can leave you a deposit and return it along with a 12 pack of whatever you want. Cheers.

Are you in Seoul? The place to buy the bits you need is in the tool market that runs parallel to the Chung ga Chung stream in downtown Seoul. From Insa Dong head towards Myeong Dong. Once you cross over the river start to walk parallel to the river towards Dongdaemun market...away from City Hall. The shops on this street sell drill bits and such.

I bought a Bosch 14.4 volt cordless drill (which I'm not lending out, sorry) for about 160k at the local hardware store after checking the price (which was similar) on http://gmarket.co.kr

If you want to combine forceful with cheap, the thing to do is forego convenience and buy a good old-fashioned non-cordless drill. At the time (earlier this year) good Bosch models were 65k to 80k, and you could probably find something Black and Decker or Chinese for somewhat cheaper.

Finally, I actually found a proper masonry bit at my local (Gangbyeon / TechnoMart) Lotte Mart! But I'm sure any neighborhood hardware store would also have them.

Hung a couple of VERY big and heavy panels and frames on the wall without any problem at all! Very Happy

Hope this helps!

You need a hammerdrill. Cordless drills are not suitable for masonry. Hammerdrills can switch between normal and concrete. The Black and decker ones usually have a hammer icon on one of the switches.

I think I saw one at Kim's club or Emart for about 40K or less(the most basic one) There are more industrial ones but they are more expensive. If you are drilling into a normal wall, the basic should do. If its concrete pillars and such, then you have to work hard.

Maybe get some spare bits as well and different sizes, I found that if the wall is very hard, you make it easier by starting with a smaller drill bit. Masonry bits have tips that protrude a bit like an arrow head.

Good luck!
