Since this thread it's been determined that there is also lightning in the atmosphere:

Depending on what Dawn turns up, Ceres might turn out to be a better destination for colonization but we don't know enough about either location to say for sure. What Venus needs right now are a few solar flyers to check out the upper atmosphere in great detail.
The next human mission I'd like to see anywhere besides LEO would be a manned mission to an asteroid as nears Earth, because that would only take about two weeks there and back. |
