| Well Queen Elisabeth II obviously. But only when she is in Canada, as she is only the Queen of Canada (head of state) when he is on Canadian soil. The rest of the time she is represented through the position of the Governor General at the federal level and leut-govenors at the provincial. |

A question for the Americans:
What unit of measurement do you use for distances?
a) a scientifically derived unit
b) a standard unit used the world over
c) the foot size of a dead foreign monarch |

I think it's more like
HRM: Hello, Mr/Mme. Prime Minister how's Canada doing today?
PM: Who the f*** is this? What are you retarded? It's 1am here. Don't you have CBC where you are?
HRM: This is the Queen/ King of England.
PM: Well then you have enough money for Express Vu don't you? Look I've had the crappiest day ever. Quebec wants to separate. The opposition is threatening a non-confidence vote if I don't veto some bill to stop the seal hunt in Regina. They don't even have seals in Regina! AND I have to find a new Governor General since the current one got arrested by the United States and sent to Guantanamo Bay for some "reason". How's Jolly O'le England?
HRM: It's good, thanks . Well I should be getting back to the tele. Just checking up on stuff on your side of the world.
PM: Good night... Oh... you should also check to see what time you're calling before you call. |

Isn't the GST the tax we have to pay Queen Elizabeth for using English?
I guess it might be better to get rid of Queen Elizabeth because she is only a figurehead, but then we'd all have to speak French. I sucked at French at school so I think it's better to carry on as we are.
I do agree that this is a very important issue for Canadians and it's the one most debated in truckstops across the country.
But damn you for bringing it up on Dave's. It's the reason I left Canada and came to an uncontroversial country like Korea. |

Canadians snarking on the fact that we use two systems of measurement in the States is pathetic.
Even more sad than the OP's game. |

Just pointing out an idiot's retardation. Let's just agree that they're both fkucing pathetic. Canadians are still commonwealth and Americans still use Imperial. Neither the US nor Canada is inherently superior than the other. |

| So why can't Aussies or Kiwis participate in this? Since we share the same form of government, after all. |

Though the royal family doesn't normally intervene directly in Canada's political affairs, and hasn't intervened at any point in my known history , their real power shouldn't be downplayed. The queen is the legal and real power of Canada by decree of the Canadian Constitution... |
And if she actually used it? |
The same thing as would happen in the U.K.; our elected representatives would smile, nod, and maybe even pretend they had done whatever it was the Queen had asked them to do. Then they would go about running the country as usual. The Queen as head of state represents Canada's historical willingness to accept political compromise to avoid bloodshed. The Queen today does not have to political power past monarchs have, so the time for empassioned political debate for this issue is over. We have a proud history as a peaceful nation which recent political events are serving to undermine. Debate that if you want to debate Canadian politics. |

Queen Elizabeth is our queen, and her title in Canada is officially the Queen of Canada. I would certainly not call her foreign since Canada was founded and established by Britain. (And the French too, but they lost the war in 1763.)
God save the Queen! |
