HomePlus sells a wider selection of imported beer than any other place in Korea. They even beat Costco. Hannam Supermarket also has an excellent selection, but their prices are steeper.

Having imported beers costing 2,000-3,500 won a bottle is blessing in Korea: The Land of Shitty Beer. Some of my favorites there are Samuel Adams, Coopers Extra Stout, Pilsner Urquell, XXXX and Erdinger (wheat and dunkel).

But beware before you fill up your cart with premium bottle of beer: Many beers at HomePlus are past the shelf life. Beer kept at room temperature should be consumed within 4-6 months from the manufactured date if you want a fresh tasting beer.

Many beers at HomePlus have dates over 6 months old, so choose wisely if you are going to pay 3,500 for a bottle of beer.

HomePlus sells a wider selection of imported beer - however not many people buy it - Samuel Adams, Coopers Extra Stout, Pilsner Urquell, XXXX and Erdinger (wheat and dunkel) -

(250ml ~ 375ml)

nobody buys it except for a few foreigners...

Thats why its 3,500 for a bottle of beer

the 1.5 litre bottle of Korean beer is much cheaper...

thats why the bottles you are looking for are 6 months old...

However - look at the "Forever" Vodka (made in France) selling at 6,500 won per 1 litre bottle and usually its always sold out...

its the price that people go for - not the quality...

why should I buy 2 XXXX cans of beer (3,500 won each per 300ml) = 7,000won for 600ml when I can buy a 1.5 liter bottle of Cass RED for 5,500won??

Because Korean beer is awful....we have to drink enough of it at the bar that there is no excuse for drinking it at home.

Haha...Forever vodka is usually sold out because bars and clubs use it in their 6500 and up cocktails....hahahaha....

Seriously, at Club mass a Vodka and Orange is 10,000 and I watched them pour Forever.

As for Homeplus, that place seriously rocks.

I like that Weihenstephaner beer Emart started carrying a couple months ago. It's good quality at 5400 won per half liter bottle. This is one thing Emart doesn't suck at unless it's the smallest Emart in a smaller city.

They have a 15000won special with three different types of Weihenstephaner, plus a nice brewery glass.

Where is Home Plus? I keep hearing about this place but I've never actually seen one. I know where Costco is and I've found a couple dozen Emarts, but where is Home Plus at? I'm in the gangnam area of Seoul.

The one I go to is at Jegi-dong station, line 1 (east of Dongdaemun).

Lotte Mart is selling Harboe Pilsner Premium (Danish Lager) for 1,250 won a can. It's delicious. It's also very fresh judging by the 15 7 2009 best before date on the bottom of the can.

There's one in Jamshil behind the Gold Castle building and one in Yatap upstairs from the bus terminal.

the same question keeps getting asked every month...

The Jamsil Homeplus... (see map) -

Lotte Station - Exit 8 - you should be standing directly in front of Lotte Gold Castle... - walk (away from Lotte - not towards Lotte - walk towards SongPa-gu Office) - you will walk across the small street that will have you standing in front of what used to be Chillis restaurant (but has now been changed into a Korean/Japanese restaurant)... look into the sky about ex-chillis you will see the Homeplus sign on top of their store..) - you just have to walk behind what used to be Chillis....

Navigate the buttons on the left to find the locations of other ones.
