I have 3 weeks of winter camp at my public elementary school and on the last day I will let the students make sandwiches. It won't be anything fancy, just 2 slices of bread, a cheese slice, a slice of processed ham, some sandwich filler and tomatoes or lettuce. I also want to buy some cider or cola. I've budgeted for around 3000 won per student. Do you think this is too expensive?

How about some soju and beer to go with sandwiches?

You should get some snacks like chips and dips and a some cake for dessert.

I'd say you should budget 10,000 per student. They have the money and since you won't get to keep the change so don't worry about over budgeting.

What is sandwich filler? Is that like pig ears and snouts?

'Cooking' class is great fun. It''s also a lot of fun for students to make a cake.

They buy 2 cake halves (made of bread stuff) - smother it with whipped cream - and decorate it with Kiwi fruit - fruit - chocolate etc. Lots of photos, bit of Englisheee (Recipe Book, and Teachaaa gets first crack at the cakes.

Now that's a yummy way to learn Englisheeeee.

I always cook spaghetti for my camps. It's cheap. Takes a bit of prep time (so less actual teaching  ). And most of the kids have never had REAL spaghetti so they love it. Last camp I cooked for around 240 students and it came out to be less than W1,500 per student. The schools generally pay for the food. Just give them an itemized list and relevant costs.

I'm in the middle of planning for next week's camp and this seems to be a great idea.

Moose, do Korean kids like peanut butter and jelly?

Way to go, Fishead soup. That form's just what I need. Any more gems like that would be appreciated.

Merry Christmas.

Becareful of getting your kids sick. I tried to buy pizza for all the kids at my school but it was unadvisable because if one student gets a problem it opens a whole can of worms.

P & J though is a pretty safe bet. And I think it will be cheaper and easier for you in the end... Althought potentially could make it a whole lot messier.

We are making griddle cakes or drop scones.

Were going to make hamburgers but I got pissed off with all the stupid questions that the CT asked about making them.

So we are now doing griddle cake type things. Oddly enough using nearly the same equipment as the hamburgers. Yet she didn't ask any questions........?

You would think right? In my experience at my old school maybe around 50% of the students liked it and would eat it (this wasn't just a one time experiment, it was over the course of about 3 years with several different classes). Surprised

Some children are allergic to peanuts and might DIE from eating your sandwich.
