I've said some things about Canada my self. But I would not for a minute stand by and let someone belittle Canada's fighting force.
These men and women have fought and died for their country along side Americans and Brits over the last century. They have stepped into peace keeping arenas where the US was not wanted.
They have stepped up.
The Queen denial and fear of the dark aside Canadians are quite courageous. |

Many Canadians are proud of our army and its recovered sense of purpose: the Canadian army is both rebuilding Afghani roads, schools, irrigation, et cetera and also fighting in actual combat against the enemy. Prime Minister Harper has given our army a chance to show that it is still the same army that helped win two world wars and defended Korea.
Canada is a rich and powerful nation. We can easily field a much stronger force in Afghanistan to crush the insurgents and also continue in the reconstruction of Afghanistan's infrastructure. |

I suppose we "could", if we assume the Afgan mission to not be a crap-shoot. But if we do have the ability, that doesn't ergo mean that it is the best application of our ability. |

proud of an army that can barely defeat New Zealand? 
You can't spend so little on your army and expect it to be a good one. The Canadian army might have pretty decent training, but they are a joke compared to a lot of other armies. Also, how do you come to the conclusion that Canada is a powerful nation? |

I have to say that the current crop of canadians online are a bunch of self absorbed wankers.
I have read about the canadians in WW2 and they stood and fought. Any one who calls the WW2 canadians pussies better say it again.
I might lose the fight, but even though I am not a canadian, I will stand up to defend thier soldiers honor.

| Good on you tough guy. They are defending their soldiers' honour by saying how great they did before. The whole point is that their defence forces are a joke now and they seem to like the idea of leaving Afghanistan. I think that they are disrespecting the old heroes by talking about running away. That's fag talk.... |

Friends and family members of 22-year-old Hayes, who was from Ripples, N.B., embraced each other as they greeted the coffin.
The soldiers' remains were taken to Toronto for autopsies. The procession of hearses travelled along a stretch of Ontario's Highway 401 that is known as the Highway of Heroes. Hundreds of people with flags and banners lined bridges and roads as the motorcade passed by.
Firefighters at a downtown Toronto station near the coroner's office stand at attention as the soldiers' remains arrive.
Killed in major operation
Vernelli and Crooks, both of November Company, 3rd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment battle group, died when an improvised explosive device blew up near their patrol in the Zhari district, about 40 kilometres west of Kandahar.
In the second incident, Bouthillier and Hayes, both with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Shah Wali Kot district, about 20 kilometres northwest of the city
The four soldiers were taking part in a major operation to attack Taliban command centres and supply lines to disrupt insurgents as they prepare for the summer fighting season.
Roughly 3,000 soldiers from NATO countries working in Afghanistan lined the tarmac at Kandahar airbase on Saturday night as the remains of the four men were loaded onto the flight. More than 2,800 Canadians are serving in Afghanistan.
The latest deaths bring Canada's death toll in Afghanistan to 116 soldiers since the mission started in 2002. One diplomat and two aid workers have also been killed. |
