I've been watching the value of the Won against the Canadian Dollar pretty closely these days. It appears that the Won is on the way back up for Canadians. It doesn't look as good for Americans though!

The rebound probably has something to do with the weakening strength of the Canadian Dollar against the American Dollar. It still isn't as good as what it was in May 2005 though, when 2 million won was worth just over $2500 Canadian. Let's hope the rise continues.

Here's what two million won has been worth in Canadian Dollars over the past few months:

November 23, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,693.646 CAD

November 24, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,671.090 CAD

November 30, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,681.273 CAD

December 2, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,723.914 CAD

December 8, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,725.003 CAD

December 12, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,819.447 CAD

December 18, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,839.560 CAD

December 22, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,850.688 CAD

December 28, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,836.928 CAD

December 29, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,927.255 CAD

December 31, 2008:
2,000,000.00 KRW = 1,925.795 CAD

That's an old boy saying. We used it in the oil industry. I now have you pegged at least 50 years old or you were in middle management or higher in the oil industry. No?

You have nailed the 'age thing' down. However, I was never in the oil industry. Wink

OP,

No offense, but I think you need to check your numbers.

If your latest exchange rates are correct, would you mind please telling me what magical bank is offering these rates?

The latest exchange rate for KEB is 1090 won to 1 CAD based on remittance sending rates.

I sent earlier this week at 1067 won to 1 CAD.

The rate you are indirectly quoting is about 1035, which I'm afraid I haven't seen yet.

Cheers

Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and the occasional atomic device.

You're right, that's the market rate. I should have specified that.

I got those rates from XE.com, which always posts the market rate. Banks never give you the market rate, because they need to make money.

The banks usually adjust their rates based on the market rates though...so if the rates get better on XE.com then they're also better at the banks.
