I've received two direct deposits for my full salary with no deductions whatsoever, so far; or receipts. Directer stops by every once in a while to review certain expenses that are my responsibility, but each time I ask if she wants the money, she declines, saying, "later, later." Should I be worried, concerned, or overjoyed?

I'd be pissed-off.

You have no national health insurance or pension. Rolling Eyes

If you really want health insurance, ask for it and follow up on it later when the deductions are made. And know how much you health insurance costs.

If you want pension, maybe ask for it or wait until your contract is finished and go to the pension office with your part of the contribution to get it from your employer later. No worries.

Taxes? If they don't want to deduct taxes than count your lucky stars.

yeah seems like you're doing ok on this deal.. it's a lot better than places that take out a bunch of stuff and STILL don't pay pension or medical

HOWEVER, since they're doing something unusual with the pay, they're likely up to something

I believe health is 5.58% now, so half that is the contribution. Don't quote me on that percentage. It was 5.08% before, but it went up this year.

Pension is 4.5% depending on your salary. Sometimes it works out to exactly 4.5, but it's done in brackets. Like 2.4 million is 108,900 Won/month. That's 4.5375%. Anyway your contribution is around 4.5%. So he knows apx. what it will be... And remember that if you work even a partial month, it's full pension. Even one day.

Ok, but how will he PROVE that he worked those times and all that? I doubt he is getting a receipt if they arent taking anything out. I am curious because my school is trying to wiggle out of my pension as well. As far as I know they havent paid tax or medical either. Not to mention they are now 3 days late on paying me for december.

Show pension the contract and the alien card. If you don't have a copy of the contract, immigration does. It's not that difficult. Pension and health percentages are calculated on your base salary which is shown on your contract. Don't need any pay slips.

My contract is so vague, I dont know if it would matter. Also, I think my school signed my contract for me. (Which was fine, I forgot to sign it when I sent it over) I agreed to the terms, but I still consider it a fairly vague contract...with no mention of pension.

Doesn't matter if pension is mentioned or not. It actually has no business being mentioned. It's not a contractual thing, it's the law.

Pension knowing your base monthly salary is all that matters.

So, how should I handle it if my school weasels out of pension? Should I wait till the end of the year to turn them in so I am not in jeopardy of being fired?

That's my current theory. Keep them happy and don't mention anything to them about it. You can get it later. I'm going to for a couple of jobs I had this year and I'll let you know how that goes. Won't be until the summer that I do that.

You're not losing any money. It's yours for the taking later on. The only trick is to have enough on you for your share of the contributions once you make your claim. Then pension goes after him for his share. Then you get all 9% back. At least your paychecks will be bigger for now. Just don't spend it all.

OP and Sir John, you need to get your ARC before you can sign up for Pension or Health Insurance. Do you have your Alien Registration Cards?

yes, i have my ARC. And director promises medical insurance documents are on the way. And I have no reason to doubt her because up to now she has delivered on everything. I was just wondering about the tax/pension thing particularly. I don't want it to come back and haunt me later.
