I don't think much of him as a fighter, to be sure, but it's so sad to see someone who's such a nice guy lose again and again and again. Why does he keep choosing fights against people he has no chance of beating? Couldn't they at least pair him up with a few slow, fat, old K1 fighters he can just knee kick til they're unconcious? Then everyone could be happy again and Choi could do the variety show circut with everyone marvelling at the great Korean freak.

He's brave - he isn't that bad a fighter - if we remember that other massive Korean wrestler who got took apart against Nicolas Pettas last year - it is obvious that Chong Man has some skills and durability - and he has fought all the best names in the division. I think his time has come to an end though I don't think the men who decide his fate will let him go away and lick his wounds in private - a shame really.

What I dont understand is that it seems Choi Hong Man hasn't figured out that everyone is gonna leg kick him til he falls over. He made no effort to check kicks or avoid leg kicks all match.

Those are the guys that he has a tendency to lose to. They leg and body kick him to death. Of course the exception is the baddest man to grace the ring, Fedor Emelianenko who submitted him with technical ability and force.

I don't think he's no superstar, but it's obvious he needs a new trainer.

I forgot about the other exception when Mighty Mo overhand righted him for lights out. I agree with i4ni, he needs new training and management.

If you are going to fight in this type of sport or even if you get into a street fight, it's all about having heart. You got to have the heart and guts to fight like you want to kill your opponent...or you won't win.
The big man does not have the heart.
And why put him against someone who might loose? The idea of these fights is to be the champion! If he wins...it's because the opponent was to easy...if he loses...it's because he was over matched! Gesh....the poor guy comes out on the bottom no matter what!

I noticed just what you said about heart and drive when watching his fight against Crocop (who is not contender quality by watching his performance over the last couple of years) the other night. He seemed like he didn't even want to be there. It's like he is a circus performer in a way.

He gets matched up against middle of the road guys. Rarely does he fight the current champion/ contenders to be. That is for good reason I suppose.

Korean keep the same Doctor for years(rarely get a 2nd opinion) even if it'll kill them. Don't think he'll be changing management anytime soon.

That guy could seriously *beep* people up if he had the killer instinct. He needs a mean, nasty trainer to wind him up and make him feel like tearing someone's head off.
At the moment he reminds me of Frank Bruno, the gentle giant of British boxing.

Give the Technogiant a break. After all, he got kicked in the leg! And who would want to keep fighting if they got kicked in the leg.... Rolling Eyes

I agree that what he mainly lacks is killer instinct. He's too nice a guy to do whatever it takes to win. Although "Cro Crop" is on the decline (and was running away most of the match) he was mean enough to set up Hong Man with a vicious kick to the groin.
