Sorry to resurrect this post. I did a search and couldn't find any information on buying a Flip Mino camcorder in Korea. Does anyone know if they sell them there, and for how much?

It's outdated, but still a lot of decent advice.

MiniDV is still a strong format because there is so much support for it. It might be seeing it's last days, but if your looking for a cheap reliable camcorder, I think miniDV is probably your best bet.

Camcorders that record to flash memory are not as widely supported when it comes to editing programs, although this is starting to change.

what do you mean flash isnt widely supported? flash is the medium, as is minidv.

it all depends on the format that they record to, i.e my camera records to SD Card in h.264 format as .mp4. lots of support for that. miniDV needs to be pulled from the camera, usually in mpeg.
HDV is done in avchd, some in h264. Flash based cameras also use avchd and there are alot of apps capable of dealing with it.
