...and so it begins.

Foreigners to Be Fingerprinted on Entry
Quote:

The government plans to require all foreign nationals visiting Korea to have their fingerprints registered starting as early as 2010. The Ministry of Justice said Saturday that it will propose a revision to immigration law so that all foreign nationals, whether entering Korea for short-term or long-term stay, are obliged to provide their biometric information to the Korean authorities when they come to the country. The ministry is expected to submit the revised bill to the National Assembly next year, which, if passed, will take effect starting as early as 2010.

Well, I guess this is one issue where people can't start hollering about how superior Japan is to Korea.

Or, for that matter, how superior the west is...

Yeah, is there a rational argument against it? Doesn't it just mean that it'll be easier to catch you if you did something wrong, or to exonerate you if you didn't?

I have a pretty sensitive outrage meter, but this doesn't register on it.

I doubt if the idea is to catch ESL teachers...if anyone has been to...ahmm...say Itaewon in the last few years...there seems to be more and more 'illegal' people...people that certainly don't look like they are student visas or business visas.
