I'm writing this from Beijing - and having a good time too
today at the airport there were dogs sniffing everyone as we took our bags off the baggage carousel; there were a lot of Ks on the flight and the dog stopped at this one K woman's bag - turned out she had a lot of food in it - the Chinese men made her take everything out - was kinda funny - at least I got a kick out of it
the dog was a beagle and he even had a little shirt uniform on - very cute! but even after he id'd the woman they didn't praise him - which I thought was sorta cold I'd have given him a pat or something, right?
anyway - with all the hooplah lately about drug testing NETs - was wondering why Ks don't have canine drug sniffers (and other contraband) at the airport or other places - nor do we ever see many seeing-eye dogs here - or canine units with the police.
one would think these would be an asset as they are in so many other places - certainly cheaper than human beings anyway -
thoughts? |

No you wouldn't. Who are you trying to kid? Judging from the personality you have presented here at Dave's, you would have dipped the dog's paws in molten lead and then crabbed because it whined. |

Korea probably has dogs behind the scenes that sniff luggage and cargo just as they do in most other countries. I've never seen it anywhere where I could actually see the dogs like you did in China. In Dover US Air Force base terminal, I could hear the dogs a floor under the baggage carousel, but they didn't come up to sniff us. It seems to be an awkward, intimidating, and unfriendly to sick the dogs on arrivals, but because most places don't is how and why drugs successfully get smuggled. |

Leave the dogs in their pens so if I decide to bring brats or prosciutto then the K-man wont get it . |

Most Koreans don't seem to do very well with dogs unless they're the lapdog variety. The only working ones I can recall are the large huskies or collie mixes, tied up outside a tire shop or junkyard in order to protect the "goods." Breaks my heart, all that sooty shaggy fur... and most of the time they just sit all day with no human interaction.
Anyway, it's not an animal culture here-- has anyone noticed that Korean advertising always contains people rather than animals? (Exception-- the outside of a restaurant where you eat said animal meat). Very different from Western advertising, where cartoon bears are featured on toilet tissue, etc. |

That's a first, never seen a Beagle being used as a drug sniffing dog. I've only seen a German Shepard or Rottweilers at the local airport. |

uh like you would know anything about me having never met me huh?
and now you're supposed to be some kind of expert on internet forums and people's personality ? right?
face it ya ta - I've met plenty of beagles - and other breeds as well - make that other species also - who have more charm, charisma, personality and just plain cuteness than the pretenders who keep raggin' on the females here at Dave's
yep just ask Reese Dog who knows the value of our 4 legged friends -
guys like you - probably can't stand it cuz somewhere in your past you met a woman like me who believed her animal if the guy came over and the dog or cat (or whatever) didn't take a likin' to 'em then it'd be adios amigo |
