A South Korean woman barred from entering Japan last year passed through its immigration screening system by using tape on her fingers to fool a fingerprint reading machine, reports said Thursday.
...
The South Korean woman was deported in July 2007 for illegally staying in Japan after she worked as a bar hostess in Nagano in central Japan, Kyodo said, citing justice ministry sources.
She was not allowed to re-enter Japan for five years after deportation but the Tokyo immigration bureau found her in August 2008 again in Nagano, Kyodo said.
A South Korean broker is believed to have supplied her with the tapes and a fake passport, the Yomiuri said, adding that officials believe many more foreigners might have entered Japan using the same technique. |

Scotch tape or Mission Impossible style tape? if it`s the latter then Japanese sensors are quite advanced. |

Wow. Someone overstaying a visa and breaching immigration law, and it's a Korean *beep*? The hell you say. |

It sounds like it's not so much the machine that was fooled than it was the Immigration official not paying attention. What official allows someone with tape (or band-aid or whatever) on their finger to put it on the print reader? Even if someone were not deliberately trying to fool the system, you'd think that the print reader can't read your prints with something, you know, covering them. |

Well....I guess a korean female servicing Japanese men instead of korean men pays more better...she works in a "hostess bar." Another word for prostitute..She had to have been pretty desperate to want to return to Japan after having been deported! |

Not always. There different "grades" of hostess clubs. Snacks are on the low end and there are no sex expectations at all there (many uni students earn money by working in snacks part-time). Then you have the high end clubs where everything is negotiable. |

A Korean hostess in a bar in Japan ALWAYS means prostitute. You think she's buying forged passports and fingerprint kits just to make a 10% tip on a $5 drink? |

Not if the "hostess" bar is a snack. What she does on her own time is up to her, but it's got nothing to do with the bar.
There are actual bars out there where drinks cost significantly more than $5, and usually only by the bottle. Why sell yourself when you can make a few grand on one bottle? |

Exactly. These places will sell alcohol by the bottle and in many cases, you only pay for their company. At the most expensive/highest end places, sex actually isn't included. |

No, this investigation belongs to me. Gary or whoever writes for the Korean Times, send me 70 million won so I can get to the truth of the matter.
The money is just for expenses, I will do this service to Korea for free. |

So? What does the price of cheddar cheese in Germany have to do with the weather in Rio? |
