I know there are other threads out there on using Korean cards outside of Korea. This thread is for withdrawing cash using the NH check/credit card, specifically in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, or Vietnam.

I've only used my card outside of Korea once, and it was kind of iffy. I had to try 2-3 banks because I kept getting error messages when I tried to withdraw money from my account. Finally, I ended up having to do cash advances with visa.

I was wondering if anyone tried to use a NH check/visa card in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, or Vietnam. How did it work? Which banks did you use? Was withdrawing cash a problem in any of these countries?

Thanks a bunch! Smile

I've got a Nonghyup Check Card (the blue one with the Maestro logo on the front). When I got it, my Korean director called my Nonghyup branch and specifically asked them if a foreigner could get one of these cards and use it outside of Korea. She was told yes, so I got the card.
I just got back from Singapore a couple of days ago, and the card did NOT work there. I got an error message. Fortunately, I also had a Japanese credit card with me. Make sure you have a back-up. I would not count on any Korean bank-issued card while travelling abroad. They seem to have a problem with us accessing our own money.

If it's international it should have the VISA symbol on the front and the PLUS symbol on the back.
