| I'm not sure, but I think it is only possible under certain circumstances, such as if you have a previous work history in Korea and no immigration infractions. |

OK, Thanks.
I have been in my job for 2 years. My contract finishes on Feb 28 and my new contract with a different employer starts on March 3.
They tell me I can do a visa run to Japan on the weekend connecting my two contracts. I was under the impression I would have to go back to my home country? But if I can go to Japan - it saves me a whole lot of money and time.
Is there no way I can do the change in Korea? Or is that only if I remain with the same employer?
Thanks for any further help. and all the best for 09.

Can you do a visa run to Japan to change employers = yes.
Can you do it on a weekend = NO.
The Korean consulates are CLOSED on weekends, Korean holidays and Japanese holidays.
It takes 2 working days (overnight) to do it in Osaka. Same with Fukuoka.
It can take up to 4 days in Tokyo.

| If you have had an E-2 before and have no smudges on your record, then a Japan visa trip is possible. |

On the contrary, you may do this. However, your prospective employer must have your degree verified by the KCUE. This process must be initiated by the employer. Allow two weeks for this process. |

Just make sure, 100 times over, that everything is accounted for. I have some pretty grim stories of visa runs gone awry. But in the end, I think the guy from my company fixed it all with some well-placed won, if you catch my drift. |
