If Franken wins, the urge to cheat in Georgia will be rather large.

And it being Georgia, anything's possible.

Retiring Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho), famous, of course, for his airport men's room arrest, told the story of how he came to call Stevens "Uncle Ted." Craig said he was in a cab, on his way to the Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, when he pulled up to the curb and said out loud, "Oh my, Ted's got an airport. That's neat."

The cab driver, according to Craig, said "Do you know Uncle Ted?" Craig recalled the driver saying, "I know of no other person who has done more for my state than Uncle Ted."

"Ted Stevens now knows why I call him Uncle Ted more often than not. I view that as a much more affectionate term than Senator Stevens," Craig said, adding as he leaned over to Stevens, "I'm gonna miss you, Uncle Ted."

Maybe Uncle Ted will give Craig a "hand" on the way out the door.

Panel declares Al Franken the winner

It seems like absentee ballots saved the day for Al Franken's campaign. I guess that's a lesson for all of us.

538 reports

It seems barring lawsuits that Franken will be Minnesota's next junior Senator.

The question will be whether Coleman files a lawsuit or concedes. Right now he's making three arguments that are not very strong:

1) The including 650 ballots that were previously rejected and not put into the "fifth pile" which were ballots that were erroneously rejected.

2) The 133 missing ballots which they claim are double votes, yet there is a registration log proving the votes existed.

3) An adjustment of votes due to an error on election night reporting in one county (can't remember which one).

With a 225 vote lead, Coleman would have to sucessfully win at least 2 of the above points (the 2nd and 3rd would give Coleman a very narrow win by 18 votes).
