Hey everyone, I searched around on the forum but couldn't find it so I thought I'd post this here.

I'm thinking about purchasing a car in America for around $10,000 and importing it here. I located a shipping company so i know the cost for that and I saw that import taxes are 25-30% of the "invoice" value. I wanted to know, is this off the MSRP or the current value of the car? Also, who determines the current value of the car?

I guess in general I'm looking for someone who's done this before and could maybe point me in the right direction. There's also some other stuff like insurance, whether it needs to be purchased before or after I pick up the car from the port, etc.

Thanks
