It's a fcking joke when you look at the bigger picture. Fiveeagles, you make me sad.

It's amazing how many people judge me without even knowing me.

I have an amazing family with a beautiful family.
Awesome friends and have had a tons of great times.
We give to charity and help the poor.
I have seen so many of the children I work with smile and have become better people.
My life is filled with respect, honor and love with the people I work with.
I work hard and am chasing my dreams.

And that is why Canada and the US should be a nation under God. Because these are the values that we stand for.

We judge you by how you treat us.
Don't you judge us by how we treat you?

PS Okay, so maybe we're disqualified as judges.
But we're appointed as fruit inspectors.

He should come to the boring church in America that my family attends. Everyone sits around, falls asleep, etc. The black church in town I went to a few times with a buddy in high school --- totally different story --- they really get into the service and look like they're glad to be there. But your church beats them all.

The only church in Korea I've ever attended is the so-called Adjumma Church. They were so much fun and really sweet. I was having a blast until they talked about baptizing me right then and there, so I had to tell them I was late for a meeting and needed to leave. Laughing

Christians don't have a monopoly on the values you stated. In fact they are pretty much secular.

You were decrying Obama, as an abortionist, not an American, wholly unChristian, a few weeks ago? Wouldn't using God in his speech be blasphemy?

Apathy is the true enemy of the church, not atheism or secularists.

Cool. Let's change it to this.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under a white God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all."

There you go. White people are in the majority so this should be ok. Of course minorities would still have all the rights they have now.

Oh, get off it. This has nothing to do with race or color so don't even start with that crap.

But, if you want to really use that..........then think abou this.................I've never met an aethiest who was black.

Anyway, again...............the majority of Americans DO believe in God (or a God). So, once that figure changes then the whinny baby atheists can have their say so. Until then..................remember................nobody is forcing you to believe in a god so why should you force others NOT to acknowledge their god?

dmbfan

I don't think you understand this analogy. Yes, religion and race are different, but the point is that just because the majority of people are Christian in America doesn't mean that the government should endorse it or require the minority to pledge allegiance to a country under their God.

Here's a more direct pledge for you: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under Jesus, with liberty and justice for all" Or how about "one nation under Allah", would that be ok??

And no one wants to force the religious "Not to acknowledge their god", we just want you to acknowledge your god in Church, at home, or in any venue that is not funded by the government. If you want to pray in school, that's fine, but if you're a public teacher, and you lead your students in prayer during class or school events, then I have a problem.

Can you understand the difference?

Oh shucks, there are god references in the Declaration of Independence. I guess those have to go. Lets tell Britain that the Declaration of Independence is null and void because there is a reference to a "Creator",aka God, and that is state sponsorship of religion.

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

There are two problems with this argument. Theists love to bring up this quote to point out that the founding fathers were religious. The first problem with this is that the author of this document, Thomas Jefferson, was hardly a religious man.

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

"Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies."

"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as His father, in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter."

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man."

As to the use of words like created and creator, keep in mind that the declaration of independence was written prior to Darwin, when we had no idea where people came from. Additionally, this document was written as a notice to England, not as a law for the governing of America.

Let's say Oregon decides to secede from the Union. In their secession speech/letter/email they say "You guys are a bunch of jerks and we don't like you." Does this mean that if their new constitution doesn't mention Americans being a bunch of jerks, that everyone should view the Americans as jerks?

Sorry to dredge up these old posts, but my account was inactive for a while when I changed some account details..

This is insane. How does the bolded sentence follow in anyway from the sentences before.

My sister and my mom could write the exact same sentences..my mom is a staunch catholic and my sister is athiest. The last sentence just does not follow and is insulting, which was the intent I assume.

One of the stupidest and most repeated arguments in the anti-theist arsenal. It embodies a lot of gall considering that Christianity was NOT the biggest killer of the 20th century. Oh, no, it was certainly Communism, a political system which upheld atheism as an essential and important tenet, be it Mao's China or Stalin's USSR or Pol Pot's Cambodia or Kim Il Sung's North Korea.

And no, I'm not accusing atheism of causing such deaths. I'm just demonstrating how stupid the argument is, and why the more clever anti-theists have abandoned it.

Throughout Korea I see increasingly Koreans converting from their previous religion or Atheism to Christianity. Christians are peddling it n Bus Terminals here, at the Airport and on street corners. That is aggression. It is obvious this religion is invading this part of the world. The Mormons have released ESL sofware to advance their religion in non English speaking countries promoting as an educational tool with a hidden agenda in the backs of their minds. I had to teach it!

And of course, atheists don't do the same thing ever? Perhaps you might want to take a gander at this little tidbit of late-breaking news:

British buses spread godless message in atheist campaign

From your link
Quote:

It was the brainchild of comedy writer Ariane Sherine, 28, who objected to the Christian adverts on some London buses that carried an Internet address warning that people who rejected God would spend eternity in "torment in hell".

Where is the aggression in the atheist bus sign?
Which various church groups support and donated to as it encourages debate.

I'd agree with you on some points but disagree with you on others. I don't recall Christians from the middle east ever conquering white Europe, it is my understanding that the Romans conquered Europe, Constantine converted to Christianity/Catholicism and thus Europe under Roman rule became Christian.
