I tend to agree that breakage is a bigger concern than being caught for violating duty-free limitations. Use common sense.

I brought 2 1.5L bottles into Korea last week and I didn't declare them or have any problems. I agree with everyone else, just make sure that they don't break!

Yeah, this sounds like the right way to go. The advantage of the whisky bottles is that they come in a box each, so I can bubble wrap them inside the box, then again outside the box. That's always been enough to keep them safe when coming through the post, so when also cushioned inside my clothes, it should be safe.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm just going to put them in my checked luggage and stroll on through (hopefully) without a care in the world.
