Forgive me if this has already been discussed here on Dave's. It's been out in the theaters here in Korea for a few weeks and I just saw it today.

It's a bit of a silly comedy with a few good laughs, but worth seeing for folks in Korea. Jim Carey ought to be the new Hollywood hero adopted by Koreans after this film. He has at least 10-15 sentences in Korean, which really got the local audience going, even if most of the humor went over their heads.

one of three existential, meaning-of-life, smell-the-roses kind of films out now:

9/10 Seven Pounds with Will Smith is great but a bit somber of a flick
8/10 Yes Man with Jim Carey is pretty good with a bit of humour but stock acting
7/10 The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a slow, plodding, retread of a film with good acting, decent premise (even though not much done with it) and some romantic chemistry.

I agree except with 7 pounds...

Seven pounds 4/10...good drama, but makes you feel like killing yourself after...christ its depressing...if you liked pursuit of happiness you'll like this...
Yes man....def 8/10, i hate Carey but really liked this movie..not sure if i was in the mood but i found it quite good.
day the earth stood still....awesome....8/10

Haven't seen Benjamin button, guess i will as there's not many English movies left...but there are so many good movies coming out soon, cant wait....

Gutted about watcher though!!!

you gotta be joking, right??? MY g.f and I spent the entire movie mocking keanu reeves and his terrible wooden acting, the movie would have been the most useless movie in the world if it hadn't been for his woodeness(great adjective there Cool ) I especially loved when he was speaking chinese, there were some chinese people in the cinema with us and they almost wet themselves because of it, i think it was as bad as his english!!

on another note, slumdog millionaire looks like a good movie, amar from skins is in it!!

The Keanu Revves flick sucked ass.

So did Yes Man. And the fact that Koreans like it because he spoke a few words of 우리 말 just illustrates their insecurity.

wow, just watched seven pounds, it was a very sad movie, i downloaded it cos it was a screener and is an excellent copy too, here is the address for it if you wanna watch it in the luxury of your apartment

http://www.mininova.org/tor/2139555

but don't blame me if you are crying at the end of it!!!

i also downloaded slumdog millionaire tonight too, got it at this address if anyone is interested.
http://www.mininova.org/com/2122478

seems like a pretty good copy too. I only flicked through it briefly to check out the picture quality but it is good, but the picture and audio quality of Seven pounds is excellent (thank god for oscar time when they release screeners for us to download Smile )

i went to see yes man because nz comedian rhys darby was in it an the bit in the trailer where carey speaks korean seemed funny... that movie was shit jim carrey has made that exact same movie about four times now an he just faxed in a sub standard below par bruce almighty performance... 4 out of 10 at best.

one thing about the movie that got me thinking is rhys darby (from hbo show flight of the concords) ends up marrying a korea chick in the movie... that kind of seems true to life why do korea women like such geeky western dudes? i see so many gangly glasses wearing weird angular faced dungeons and dragons playing 20 and 30 something white dudes with decent looking korean women its not funny.. is that type forienger guys that most korean women wet thier panties for or something?

Seven pounds was an amazing movie! depressing as shit, but it was very, very well done and the acting was superb.

yes man haven't seen yet, still waiting on a good screener rip.

Curious case of benjamin button was a little drawn out and tedious at times, but the acting was excellent.

Worst remake since the Avengers. I'd post a link to my review of it, but it's on a site that can't be linked from here.

I really loved "Slumdog Millionaire". Really glad I saw it in a theater. I highly recommend it. 9/10

Really liked "Four Minutes" (German film) 7/10.

I thought "Yes Man" was funny, though a bit predictable. I think you have to be in a bit of a silly mood to enjoy it. 6/10.

"Marley & Me" was cute, but the book is better. Some will like it. 6/10.

Milk is an amazing movie. The trailer for Revolutionary Road reminds me of what you all are saying for Seven Pounds. Titanically depressing Smile
