So. When you hand in a letter of resignation, what should be on it? Legal document or just a letter to the boss? I'll be giving the proper notice, so don't bite my heed off. |

Just three things:
1. TODAY'S DATE
2. I QUIT.
3. LAST DAY: TODAY
And sign it. |

Yeah, but seriously.
The company's been good to me, I want to do it by the book, but there's no word of it in the contract. |

If it makes you feel better, write more than "I quit"? And give more time?
Dunno what you want here |

It's pretty much the same as anywhere else. All you really need is your name, the date, say that you're quitting, and your last day. Then you need to sign it.
I made the mistake of not handing in a letter of resignation once in America. I asked my boss if I needed to hand one in and they said no. So I didn't. After I quit, they asked where my letter of resignation was and barred me from ever working there again. Apparently, my boss had forgotten and had put me on the next schedule. It technically wasn't my fault, but it could have hurt me applying for another job (it didn't).
If you like the place, or even want them to like you, write a nice letter of resignation. Tell them in vague terms that you have another oppurtunity that you must follow. Thank your boss for all of your boss's help. Complement your coworkers. Tell how much you grew as a teacher at your job.

To Jane Doe: December 8, 2220
I'm writing you to let you know that I am resigning as a teacher at your school. My last day will be February first, 2220. I appreciate all of your help through the last year. I have enjoyed working at your school, and I love my students very much. However, I have taken another job closer to my home. I hope to continue growing as a teacher, and I hope ABC school remains an excellent place for students to learn.
Sincerely,
John Doe |
That one's maybe a little over the top. The grammar is a little rough, too. It was the best I could do in 5 minutes. The letter should only be a formality because you should have discussed this with your boss first. However, they'll put it in your file, and if they get called asking for a reference, they're going to see it again. |

Send them an e-mail if you have their e-mail address and CC yourself providing you proof that you did in fact notify them of your resignation. |

Not really a hagwon, a great ASP. 4 hours a day. Good pay. If you want, I'll PM you when the letter's handed in (another few months though).
Jammer113 : thanks, that helped. I just wasn't sure if it had to be any more than a simple letter. |
