in Korea that is...I can't do it at the bank, right? if I take the coins to a money changing place will they do it? anyone know?

Nope, coins are generally not exchanged, anywhere.

Yeah, I think you're SOL. I had coins at Fukuoka airport on Tuesday coming back and I just bought as many 6% Kirin lemon coolers as I could. I think I drank 8 plus a beer. And four beer on the airplane, too! Razz

Korea Exchange Bank is one of the very few specialized banks in South Korea that buys and sell foreign currency coins. Foreign currencies of coins exchangeable at KEB are:

United States dollar
euro
Japanese yen
Canadian dollar
British pound
Hong Kong dollar
Swiss franc
Australian dollar
