So, I came into the office and hour and a half before my first class started this morning, as I do every morning, and I sat at my desk getting everything organized and put together, and then working on a few lesson plans for next week. Coworkers come in, offer me coffee, ask my how my New Year was.

Lovely, lovely.

I go upstairs ten minutes before class starts to turn on the heater and start setting up.

There's a dusty pit where I left my classroom yesterday full of construction workers smoking and using sledgehammers to smash out windows and walls.

Uh......

Luckily I found a teacher in the building who speaks some English and could explain the situation (because it needed to be explained??) to the VP and get me moved to another "classroom" -- aka an office with no computer and no black/white board.

Am I on Candid Camera?

That is sparkling. You mean to tell me that you were put in an office room with nothing, but kids? And then you weren't prepared for this situation due to not receiving a telepathic communication at an earlier time? That really is a lack of planning. Heck, shoulduh canceled school for renovations rather than breathing concrete dust and cigarette smoke. If only it could be so that you could actually know, then you'd know when to call in sick.
