It's no wonder Atheists get such a bad name, when they pull this kind of shyt. It's the same with the PETA fanatics.

Take a lesson from Gandhi. Slow, steady, and rational will beat any Empire with no clothes. It just might take a hell of a long time.

I'd say putting up a sign, that simply says there's no god and religion is bad is a pretty rational non violent way to express a point. I suppose the last sentence is a bit confrontational, but there was no violence, no law breaking, not even a rally or protest. Other than just telling your friends you don't agree, I can't think of a more peaceful way to object to the monopoly Christians have on December.

You're right. Dawkins is good. He's even better in tandem with Dennet, Hitchens and Harris. The first part of the The Four Horsemen deals with the problem of easily offended Christians. Worth a watch.

Terrible message to choose. Here's a better one:

"Blah blah winter solstice....we atheists don't believe in any one religion but we all live on the same planet and love you all the same. Best wishes for the winter solstice and all the best for the new year."

A big issue for atheists is few people saying that they would vote for a candidate that was openly atheistic, and this campaign doesn't improve that at all. Now atheists that just want to chill and live their lives without even talking about religion (because they simply have no interest) get lumped in with the fundamentalist "religion poisons everything" crowd.
