| Ok , so I want to go solo to Japan for a few days on my winter break. I was wondering how to do so in the cheapest way possible. ( Im cool with just staying around Fukoukou.) Hostels are looking like the best option right now. |

| Seems to be the transportation will kill your wallet in my research of taking a few days of Winter break in Japan. It'll cost a fortune to go there and get around within Japan while you can get cheap sleep and eats. I opted out on going as I seen it's stupidly expensive for a train ride, taxi ride, and subway ride. Might go someday when the weather is warm as I'd prefer to spend my time and money when it's more photogenic and comfortable. |

I posted this same info. on a "last minute deals"
thread. United has had this fare posted for awhile.
"Expedia has RTs from ICN to TYO for $238 (including taxes)
on United leaving from Jan. 26th-28th, returning anytime
Feb. 5th-8th. Tokyo isn't a warm climate but hey! You can
prolly even get it a few dollars cheaper on United's website." |

If you can find a hostel, good. If you're a dude, you must stay in Capsule hotels to save cash. Take a ferry there. Take buses and, preferably, the subway. Shop at the 100 Yen store and eat Ramen (always a good idea, no matter the budget).
Take my advice and you will come home only slightly in debt.
Damn you, Japan, for being so expensive!
(I take it back, old lover! I could never stay mad at you!) |

Once I got off the plane very drunk in Tokyo and proceeded to board the subway looking for a backpackers at 11p.m. Some American guy saw me and said you look very lost and I said yes.
I ended up staying with their church and helping them cut a Jamaican Christian music video. They served all meals or bought them for 5 days and it was in the suberb called Shebuiya.
The preacher was this cool samoan guy who played the bass guitar and they never once pushed religion on me.
Japanese people would stand up and shake and said they saw Jesus while the bass player and his band played on.
Five days in Tokyo ended up costing me 50 U.s. I think that could be the only cheap way to have cheap holiday in Japan.
Step 1. board the plane.
Step 2. drink lot's.
Step 3. look like an idiot on the train.
step 4. waite for Jesus.
step 5. enjoy the free food and lodging. |
