based on this story on CNN today, You may be more racist than you think

http://us.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/01/07/racism.study/index.html

there are a few tests, the white/black one takes about 10 minutes, it is not culture specific

the white/asian one is based upon the concept of being an "American", it's a little harder and probably not accurate unless you have a pretty good knowledge of famous American buildings. interesting stuff

the links to the tests:
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/demo/takeatest.html

I took both, apparently I'm a Race Traitor, I showed a slight preference for Blacks over Whites. Not confident about my results on the Asian-White American one, I made some mistakes because that one uses drawings instead of pictures and there were a few pictures of sites that I didn't recognize, had to guess, which throws off the results. I showed a moderate feeling that Whites are more American than Asians.

Have fun

I took the black/white one..i also showed a moderate preference for black faces. I think it might be just that black faces are easier to identify as black and/or I tend to mistakenly identify black people i meet as one black group whereas I split white people into many smaller ethnic groups.

Your data suggest a moderate association of European American with American and Asian American with Foreign compared to Asian American with American and European American with Foreign.

Radicals and racists
Don't point your finger at me
I'm a small town white boy
Just tryin' to make ends meet
Don't need your religion
Don't watch that much TV
Just makin' my livin', baby,
Well that's enough for me

I don't know, a white/black test sounds like it would be kind of biased against Americans too. I'm not saying that Americans are more racist, just that there is a bit more baggage in that department, while hardcore racists in other countries might not feel one way or another about blacks.

To clarify, biased towards Americans has to do with the content of the test, the White/Black test simply compares pictures of faces and words.

The White/Asian American test uses pictures of faces and picture of famous places.

What about if you see another culture as inferior?? Is that being racist?

For example, i look down on Saudi Arabian culture for the way they believe (without scientific evidence) that god made the world, and for the way they (mis)treat women.

I also look down on K culture for their insular attitudes and lying/cheating.

So when i see a K person or an Arab i can feel a bit negative about them. However, if they grew up in my culture then i would like them....so its not their race per say that i dislike, it's the way they think which i dislike. Does that make me racist, or a culturalist, or prejudiced?

"Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American."

Wow, only a minority of 4% of people ... I'm with Van Islander on this one ...
For me it might be the ease of understanding - at times Europeans (myself I guess having white skin) can be overly demanding, complicated, fussy ...
But, I reckon most of all, here's telling, I'm not averse at all to especially Maori women. The best ... ah em .. taste.

Musims, they're cool, too. "Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for Arab Muslims compared to Other People."

Whites on the other hand for me are just as fussy and demanding as Asian people. "Your data suggest little or no association between European American and Asian American with American and Foreign."

This is about the only thing I'm in the majority on: "Your data suggest a strong automatic preference for Bill Clinton compared to George W. Bush."

Native IAT: little or no association between Native Am. and White Am. with Foreign and American.

Sexuality IAT: a slight automatic preference for Straight People compared to Gay People.

Age IAT: a moderate automatic preference for Old compared to Young. (?)

I showed a preference towards neither in the Black/White test. What is that about?

We're all racist in one way or another. If you disagree, you're lying to both me and yourself. Some are just more racist than others.

I showed a moderate preference to light-skinned. That's weird, because I have somewhat dark skin. This test is stupid.

Yup.

Still, hopefully racism can be transcended someday. Most of the differences between us are cultural, not genetic.
