So my employer sent me an email saying that the Korean Immigration office thinks my background check and Apostille are a copy, but they aren't. They've asked me to get another one, but it'll look just the same as the ones I've already given them.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? |

How badly do you want the job? Why not try another country, Korean immigration needs to get over itself, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.
If you really need the job, why not try a different immigration office?
They are such arses sometimes, I don�t know how anyone gets a job in Korea.

This is a 1st for this issue. Why do they keep inventing how they issue visas? I really don't know what to tell you on this one. Is your apostille all shiny with a formal gold executive style emblem seal? If it's not fancy and official looking enough, then that's raising a red flag. Mine was on heavy paper, very fancy, golden emblem seal, and has real signatures.

Mine is fancy on heavy paper with a silver emblem seal (maybe that's the problem, it's not gold) with real signatures. This is why I'm amazed they could even accuse me of making a copy. I wish I had been there at the immigration office--I'd ask them how one makes a copy of a raised emblem seal! |

Scan the 'effing things and re-submit the scans as originals. Mr. Kim won't know the difference and Mr. Park will be coming down off a night of soju and 'juicy girls', thus be unable to focus his eyes.
He'll find the nearest pad of red ink and put his 'chop' on it.
If Mr. Park won't do it, Mr Choi will. |

It looks like someone at my employer might have copied the documents and gave the copies to another person who went to the immigration office. Of course neither of these people are the person who hired me.
Does every Korean school/hagwon/university/office have 20 people employed to do one job? |

It's obvious what to do:
Arrange to have a contact phone number of someone who prepared it so that immigration can talk to them directly. |

I have had a couple teachers submit criminal checks that had the Apostille affixed to them, but because they had a "url" or something that suggested that they were an internet based check, these criminal checks were refused.
As of July 17th 2008, online criminal checks were no longer approved. I don't know if this applies to you, but it could be the reason. |
