And I just love it when they come with a couple of hot suggestive chicks, between whom stands the preacher!
Before coming to Korea, I didn't know that waxing those legs and the massive facials are all a part of selling Christianity to ordinary people!!
Huh! Talk about modesty! Crap! |

I met a cool Jehovahs witness in Starbucks in Itaewan and followed her to her church. I felt welcome and met some more of her friends. We went out and had coffee and of course the usual conversation of Jesus.
It was fun, but you cannot know more about the Bible than them! I grew up in a church and the gal got mad at me for knowing more quotes ! It's been 3 years and we still email.
Cute. |

| Do you remember the "mother of god" people? They were really, really trying hard to get whitey. They would ask you if you knew about the mother of god. If you were foolish enough to suggest it was Mary, they would want to drive you to another location to teach you the truth. As it turned out, the mother of god was an ajumma. Who knew? |
I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same cult. Wasn't she the wife of God, rather than the mother? The cult originally was started by her husband.
And yeah, I did their survey once. It's worth a laugh. |
Yeah that's them. One of their "Churches" was near the Sanggye subway station. I'd walk by it every day. So they were usually out in force in my hood. I remember telling one tard kid who had to convert people in Eunheng sagari that day that I didn't believe in god. "Hana nim op seh yo" was my attempt at Korean. |

I did notice the jehovah's witnesses send out really good looking women to convert the whiteys. Nothing like a crush to the ego when a beautiful Korean woman with pretty good english comes up to you, asks if you have a moment to talk, and then whips out the watch tower. |

| I had a phone English student a while ago who was a Jehovah's Witness. Surprisingly she didn't really try to convert me, although she was shocked that I believed in evolution. My knowledge of the Bible is pretty decent (although far from complete) and I got her by pointing out how the Bible says the Sun and Moon produce their own light, and the stars are lesser bodies, which shows that God and Jesus knew fcuk all about the universe. |

| Not really but I did this lesson for Korean English teachers about the possibility of Aliens. The discussion started off with " I dont believe in aliens because they are not in the bible." I wanted to say isnt Star Wars a holy work though? |

That's funny reasoning. You know what else isn't in the Bible? North America. You know what else isn't in the Bible? Any mention of Korea or Koreans. |

Yes, these are the only Koreans who approach you speaking good to excellent English. This usually happens in or near large stores such as Emart and Homeplus in the cities. I find the Jehovah Witness Koreans are usually excellent at their English if not among the best in all of Korea.
Why don't other Koreans speak English quite well and approach you like how the Jehovah Witnesses do? |

A few reasons for that:
1) Evangelical people often try to find new and clever ways to spread whatever message they want to spread and one of the easiest ways to go about that is learning a new language. Most people that learn a new language don't really have a solid reason besides kind of wanting to or getting ahead on the corporate ladder eventually
2) The Bible's been translated into a few thousand languages and the original text is also in a number of languages of course, so a lot of people (not everybody of course) that spend a lot of time with it eventually start to get into what the original text means and often that overall linguistic knowledge helps out with other languages too
3) The Bible is the source of / has a lot of English expressions that aren't used every day but still important enough that you can't claim fluency without knowing what they mean. Phrases like lo and behold! for example, or the background behind "see the writing on the wall". To understand those you either have to hear them used a lot in context (which is what a native speaker gets with or without ever having read a Bible) or you can go to the source of the phrase and kind of cheat the system without having to hear it dozens and dozens of times to know what it means. |

I've been approached numerous times by Koreans trying to convert me.
How on earth did they adopt our fairy tales and then try to peddle them back to us?
Google or research how Christianity came to Korea. Pretty interesting stuff. |
