The media often misses the story

Quote:
Man Preparing for Exam for 25 Yrs Found Dead

A 45-year-old man who had been trying to pass a state-administered judicial exam for 25 years was found dead in his lodgings, police have said.

He is thought to have been there for more than 10 days after the time of death.

The unidentified man was found dead on a bed in his room inside a ``gosiwon,'' a cheap facility packed single-room accommodation, in southern Seoul at around 2 p.m. Thursday, according to police. The owner of the facility found the body and reported it to police.

The owner said that other lodgers said they had noticed a bad smell coming from the room for a few days, but he paid little attention to the reports. But as the odor grew stronger, staff opened the door and found a decomposing body, police said.

In his room were a digestive tonic, cold remedy and record of his blood pressure, they said. There was neither a suicide note, nor evidence of murder, police added.

The man, who studied law at a prestigious university in Seoul, had been trying to pass the exam for 25 years without success.

Police suspect he died some 10 days before the discovery and are investigating the cause of death.

It's really sad that nobody said anything. But maybe they couldn't tell the difference between their kimchi farts and a decaying body.

Other people could notice, but the manager didn't care about the difference. Both things he's not supposed to clean up.

That is either perseverence...

or

his mummy/daddy kept pressuring him for 25 years to become a lawyer

Talk about someone who doesn't know when to give up.

Korea will soon bar anyone from taking the bar more than twice or three times. Wasting years of your life studying for the bar is also common in Japan.

To think he wasted so much of his life, and then ended up dying that way. Geez.
