*Mods how about a sticky for this?*

my flight from Beijing was delayed a godawful 3 1/2 hours !!! the entire flight is only 1 1/2 hours!!

at any rate, we landed after midnight, maybe 12:30 or so. I'm thinking WTF, no buses, no ATMs (luckily I do keep some cash at home for just such an emergency); was really bummed.

however, lo and behold, after trekking for maybe 20 minutes - did they HAVE to let us out at the FURTHEST TERMINAL IN INCHEON?? Twisted Evil

I walked into the main concourse and there - Currency Exchange was open, a lady was using the KEB ATM, right next to it. so far, so good. a couple of shady-looking taxi touts were walking around and of course, came up to me and offered a taxi - which even tho I thought I'd need, I don't use touts anywhere and Incheon will be no exception!

I went over to the Family Mart (of course they are 24/7) and another surprise! the guy at the counter spoke some E and thought there were still buses. I hurried to GATE 7 (IGNORE THE DESK THAT HAS BUSES AND SCHEDULES- IT WAS CLOSED ANYWAY)

and YES, at GATE 7 there are Late Night Buses (to Seoul); one was there going to the Express Bus Terminal which isn't that far from HBC where I live - the guy also spoke E who was managing the passengers and all (pretty good E actually!) and said the next bus would be in an hour and 20 minutes and would go somewhere else in Seoul.

SO they aren't that frequent - BUT they are there - and you really DON'T want to take a taxi from Incheon unless you really know where you are going and don't mind paying the +60,000 won charge.

buses out of town - don't know - maybe someone else can add to this.

happy traveling! Laughing

Yeah the last bus to Daejeon is at a stupid time, 10.15pm or something. I would like to know if there are alternatives after this time.

Most last buses to the provinces leave at 8 or 9PM. But flights usually arrive too late and then depart too early to make use of buses to and from the provinces so this means buffering an extra day to lay down on a hard bench in the airport to wait out the night for either a morning flight or a morning bus. It never fails that I'll have like a 9 or 10 AM flight departing Incheon and then arrive back sometime between 9:30PM and 3:30AM. This makes it where I have to tack on an extra day before and after the flights to commute from Gangneung since the airport buses don't run at night nor early enough in the morning even though it's only 3.5 hours each way. Same for regional express buses from the larger cities such as Gangneung to the tiny towns out in the province. Last buses to and from my town go at an early 7PM with first buses like 8AM.

Having no late night/early morning buses makes for 2 days of my vacation spent getting to or from the airport!

If you're stuck at Incheon overnight, the best place to crash is in the garden on the top level of the Incheon-Gimpo train bulding, just across from the terminal by the parking lots. After 11 or so, the place is dead quiet, not bright and you can actually get some sleep till 6am-- the floor is some kind of nice smelling wooden planks and plants all around, and they're benches for dozing off...

It's also connected with an enclosed 'sky walk/pass' from the mezzanine level, I think.

They've recently opened a nice little jim jil bang / sauna at the airport. It's in the basement under B or so. 15,000 won, or 20,000 won if you arrive between 10:30pm & 6 am. It's not bad. I saw that they had tiny bedrooms and you can rent them per hour. They are single beds in a small room. We didn't try them, but they seemed ok.
