A couple weeks ago I was in COEX with my boyfriend and two staff members of "Chatting With Beauties" (미녀들의수다) ran after me and tried to recruit me for the show because they liked my looks. They were really disappointed that I can't speak Korean well enough to have a conversation, let alone be on a talk show. They kept asking me in Korean "You really can't speak Korean? Are you sure??" They made my boyfriend take their number and told us to call them if my Korean skills ever become good enough.

I'm just wondering about the girls on that show. Do they get paid? How much? Most of them are students, so are they working while on student visas? If I ever decided to join the show, is it possible to do television work on an E-2 visa?

It could be fun! haha. I've been studying Korean on my own for quite a while so I might work just a bit harder.

I've been on TV several times without the appropriate visa, nobody cares. I'm a student.

Is this thread so you get attention/compliments?

How would I be looking for compliments? Did I post a picture?

I'm curious about the legalities of it.

they are given the appropriate visa to be on the show, and they are given 300,000 per show. However 200,000 of that is in gift vouchers.
The filming for the show aslo takes a whole day, from about 9am through to 6pm

they have a reading before filming, all the girls need hair and makeup done. so technically the filming doesnt take so long but there is alot of prep time. I still think it takes over 3 hours to film, alot of the crap is edited out

Koreans can't understand my deep annoyance/borderline hatred for Bronwyn. The less airtime for her the better.

yeah shes so damn annoying. all my coworkers love her and say shes the most popular one, because of the way she talks. she talks like a damn clown princess. all this hatred yet she was tagged in a facebook album that a friend was in, so i tried to add her. she denied me. the hatred and resentment grows, it really does.

i find the show strangely fascinating. I fnd myself being symltaneously disgusted and engrossed at the same time. if it's on, i'll watch it curiously without even knowing what they are talking about it.

I asked my Korean coworker if they ever say anything bad about Korea. She said they do, but it's usually edited out because people would get too p*ssed off. Is that true, you reckon?

If they are going to name the show"Chatting with Beauties" you'd think that the panel would consist of Korean girls. Grrrrrrrr......beautiful Korean girlsssssssssssssssss......

Most of the girls on that show would never even make me turn my head to get a second look at them. But then I guess if they want to chat with foreign girls who speak Korean, they don't have much choice.

More importantly, do Korean's think only pretty girls have anything interesting to talk about? I tend to find it to be the opposite

this is not really true. of course, the producers want them to say positive things, there would be no point to the show if they spent the whole time just ranting and raving about their lives in korea, but they do comment on things that bug them about koreans and things that make it hard to live here. usually the host will then comment on that and perhaps change the subject if there is too much of an awkward silence. they do have topics like "what I like about korean men/my dating experiences" but they also have things like "what I find strangest about korea compared to my home country" and "my worst experience here" or whatever. so I think it evens out.
