Aparently I don't discriminate between Asian-Americans but have a 'moderate automatic' preference for European-Americans over Black Americans.

I also have a 'strong automatic preference' for straight people compared to gay.

Just looking at the tests gave me a headache.

This is not a test of racism. It's a test of what playground talk you heard when you were 10. We're all conditioned from then. Don't try to deny it.

I didn't take the test. I already know my racist tendencies. They were absorbed by me in my childhood in Ireland at a time when mocking non-whites was seen as the normal thing to do.

I'm getting over it.

I received a moderate preference for European Americans. While I probably do have some subconscious racism, I think there are at least two factors which may have contributed to my score. One is the fact that white was paired up with good first, so there was a bit of a readjustment time.

The other one is also the association of light with good and dark with evil. Think of most ccgs, rpgs and fantasies. Usually, white and green are associated with good, while black and red is associated with evil.

How many expressions can you think of using "white" to mean something bad, or "black" to mean something good?

It's bad to "whitewash" history.
It's good to be "in the black" for profits.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for European American compared to African American.

Interesting test. I'll have to try the others.

Do you really need a test to tell you if you are a racist or not?

The tests show a general discrepancy between people's self reported "tolerance" and their actual instinctive reactions, or, at least, they attempt to do so.
