A look around the NFL will show that, recently, teams who have had a run of success, have started that run with o-line. The Rams of the late 90's - Pace, Seahawks - Jones & Hutchison, Patriots - insane ability to scout o-line talent at every position, todays Giants - tackle to takle talent on the o-line.

This years Pats are a great example. Pro Bowl QB goes down, next guy walks into the system. Any successful offence begins with solid o-line play. Any good defense begins with solid d-line play. Football is a war that is won in the trenches. Good lines can make average skill position players look great, but not so much the other way around.

I would start with solid linemen

Great point, and I agree. Which lineman would you start with?

I agree with this to an extent, but if you are talking about the one guy you choose, it has to be a QB.

Thankfully..since i follow the eagles..not really a fan but i always loved westbrook and tend to want them to do well.

Eagles D was fantastic today. For all his faults, Reid can judge talent.

Tough one. If you look at last year's Super Bowl, I'd say it was won by the Giants D-line. So I would agree that football is won in the trenches but it's hard not to take a top notch QB.

The one position I wouldn't take would be running back. I think the depth of the position is quite good.

If it had to be one guy, a proven QB is the way to go, but given the huge amount of inconsistent QB play over the last 8 years or so, I'd hesitate to hang my hat on a QB. I'd put Brady, Manning and Brees as actual, proven QBs, with Favre as a borderline candidate. Three out of dozens. Given the lack of actual franchise QBs, I'd go with a good Left Tackle, who will protect the QB's blindside, and hopefully keep him off the IR down the road a few seasons.

Brees..how did I forget about him. Favre though..have you been watching the nfl this year? that is not a cheeky question..he's been terrible.

Cutler and Rivers are for real franchise QBs in my opinion and if you are building a team you need a young guy.
