|

Hey guys (and gals),
I am coming out to South Korea for the September 2009 EPIK/SMOE intake. However, I won't be able to get there in time for the start of the orientations which based on searches I have done seemed to start around the 20/21th August for 2008 intake. The best I can do is the 24th which will be a couple of days late.
Can those who have gone through EPIK/SMOE orientations let me know if there is some flexibility over arrival or is it if you can't make it to the start of orientation you have missed the boat.
Also, does anyone follow any good blogs about ESL teachers in Korea that are worth reading?
Thanks

SMOE does another one right after the first one. You have to attend one or the other (unfortunately). |

I've managed to worm out of it some how. I missed the one back in March so was meant to go to the September one but that never eventuated. You aren't going to get in troble or anything if you don't go but if you want to go, for networking or whatever, try to go to the next one. |

I missed mine back in september 2008 because it took forever to get my visa (stupid/pointless interview) and I have yet to attend any oreintation. So though it says I must do so in the contract and I even asked to attend the next one they never gave me the details, so c'est la vie. |

Same here. I started a couple of weeks after orientation last March because, to be perfectly honest, I'm a bit lazy and applied to EPIK later than I should have. It wasn't a problem at all and nothing has been said about missing the orientation OR making up the orientation.
However, SMOE might be different from EPIK. |
