This Jimjibang thing... where can I find one in Apgujeong? And what is it exactly? |
The one behind Seoul Station is awesome. Has a few cool sauna/cold rooms. Bring a book and go chill out there for a few hours in the hot rooms. It's in behind Seoul Station called Sillomon (the spelling is wrong)
It's listed in the Lonely Planet, but if you go to information at the station and ask them where it is they can direct you no problem.
costs 8k and they'll give you t-shirt n shorts to put on and wander around in. (in case you've never been to one) |

There's one by the hotel popgreen, outside apgujeong stn exit #3 and then there's one by the Rodeo entrance where the tom'n'tom's is by Nanta. Cheongdam isn't far and there's one in the Hotel Prima, or closer to Cheongdam station is the Cheongdam spa. |

I really have to disagree about jimjilbang...
Going to a place where there is nothing to do but think?
Gee, what will you think about?
Isn't the whole point that you will stop thinking?
Believe me, a spa getaway sounds good on paper, but when you are sitting there in that sauna room with nothing to do, the first thing that will enter your mind is why you went there in the first place, and then annoying thoughs flood your mind and your stuck thinking about it for 3 hours commited because you don't want to waste the money you just spent going there...
Believe me, find some work. As annoying as it sounds it's the only way to forget your problems... with other problems. |

If you're free at 2:30 every day, consider taking a Korean class. It's engaging, productive, practical, and a great place to meet smart and interesting people (there almost always seemed to be cute and friendly Japanese girls in the classes I took...). There several hogwons near Gangnam station that offer Korean classes. Sure beats the jjimjjilbang, IMHO. |

If your hand wasn't broken I'd have a great idea for you. |

Dharma,
Totally possible. One of the best places to do it, actually, considering the plight of most animals in Korea. Cats or dogs float your boat? Or both? I know of some in Seoul, south of Seoul and north of Seoul so just ask and I'll help you out. Or, go over to www.animalrescuekorea.org and look at the volunteer forum. There's a big Saturday trip every week.
OP,
I have had leeeeeeeeeeeeeeengthy periods here without friends, and even longer periods with crappy ones I avoided. I understand. It sucks donkey balls. The animal thing is a great way to make friends, actually. |

take korean lessons. you'll learn something new and meet new people as well. you could also volunteer at an orphanage. i'm sure they could use some help and it will give a sense of accomplishment. go to nakwon music arcade and buy a musical instrument, learn to play, jam with others, start a band. go to yongsan get a modded ps2, down load, and burn games. get a groove magazine check out the clubs and events listings. go to one of the pubs that have trivia nights so you can think about other things. go to worknplay and find a job. walk around coex.
ok enough. i know all these things and i still get bored myself. problem for me is i don't like the winter. makes me stay inside too much. |

It seems like if you don't drink, your social life will be pretty much non-existent in Korea. |

Sounds like finding a friend should be your first priority.
And by "friend" i basically mean "someone you don't want to screw". The rest will fall in place.

As Son Deureo! mentioned, I recommend studying a language. Whether it be Korean, Japanese, Thai or even Mongolian it will be worth your while.
I am currently studying Thai myself. Very interesting language. |

Son Deureo!,
What classes are you taking? Where are they offered? What time? How much?
Guri Guy,
Where are you learning Thai? |

I can't imagine being too hung up on a girl that I only dated for a couple of months, but then if that was your only friend I see your plight.
Many people have given you good suggestions to stay busy. What do you actually like to do in your free time? |

I truly feel for you, if I am not the only one who understand you here.
It is not you donno what to do, there are tons of things you can do if you want. The problem of you seem to be like a depression. I have been very depressed recently......
It sucks,
It sucks when you simply want to have a friend to eat together and you roll the numbers in your cell phone from the top to the end but cant find a single one~!
It sucks you finally have one friend who shows his sympathy to you, it turns out he is more depressed than you and when you two are whining, it feels like doomsday is coming in no time. You only put another several straws on your back after that conversation.
It sucks you now see how terrible to mess with others' head, so you decide to stop creating more misery.
It sucks you are ever more depressed now~! |
