Here's the story - the lesson was called '24 Hours to Live.' I told the kids an asteroid was going to hit the earth in less than 24 hours, asked them to imagine the event and draw the outcome (pessimism? optimism?). This kid drew himself stabbing the girl that sits next to him in class (they're friends, I think). And that's the world ending in the background.

Oh, yeah - his 'last words' were, "Be careful. I kill you."

What grade are your students in? Did the students tape these to the walls and everyone walked around and looked at them? Given the right parameters, and if these had been overhead transparencies, I could see this kind of dilemma activity being worthwhile. Good, interesting work, danseonsaeng. |
