| I know what the OP is getting at. How many times have you heard your students pronounce the word "on" as "own." All the time. And yes, the way Koreans spell "Saw" (as in the movie titel) is terrible. Maybe 사 isn't right, but how about 서? |

I'm from the southeast and 사 is pretty close to saw for me too. |
I could get behind this too.
And interesting how they brought up it "being the Japanese's fault". I used to marvel at how -er was katakanized as あ, but I feel like the 어 is much more fitting. |
