|
|
has anyone else had problems interpeting when the renewal bonus should be paid?
I immediately thought it was meant to be paid if i resigned in March 2010, but many people kept saying that it was an incentive to be paid March 2009. Before I signed the new contract I called the Busan Board of Education and was told March 2009.
Now my co teacher just spoke to the Board of Education and he has informed me that the renewal bonus is in fact to be paid if I resign in March 2010.
I'm a 2nd year level 1 and i don't qualify for a wage increase. I think this is BS and the only reason I decided to stay was because of the renewal bonus but everyone keeps saying something different.
Just curious what everyone else has been told.... |

Ha ha.
Trouble getting a straight answer from Busan Office of Education?
Can't help you, but in my opinion you should get a return flight paid for this year plus an entrance allowance of 1.3M won.
I know they would settle on just a flight or just 2.0M, but I think you should get the flight and the 1.3.
You shouldn't get 2.0M because that's for renewing under your new contract. You're renewing under the old contract which says you get a flight. However, people I know are being told both things from BOE, just like you. |

It gets even better - some recruiters are advertising that 2009 EPIK contracts will give flights and a W2,000,000 renewal allowance!
Come Feb./Mar. 2010, there's going to be a whole bunch of pissed-off waygooken that should have read their contract. |

In Korea, there nothing wrong with a little exaggeration. |

i've read the contract a million times. what makes you think that one wouldn't get the contract renewal bonus and the flight money if they resigned in march 2010? |

For March 2010 you wouldn't get the flight money as there are no flights in the new contract. You'll only get 2.0M.
For March 2009 the official word is that there is no bonus for renewal. You get a flight if you are a 2008er renewing, and 1.3M if you are new in 2009. I still think article 5 should give you the flight and the bonus, though. |

It's very simple.
If you are renewing a 2008 contract they must pay for return flights (plural) i.e. home and back (or elsewhere equal to or less than the distance home & back) - either by:
1. providing paper/e-tickets;
2. reimbursing the full amount you paid; or,
3. the GTR process.
You WILL get return flights for renewing the 2008 contract. You WILL NOT get the W1,300,000 entrance allowance in the 2009 contract because they are already flying you back to Korea.
If you renew a 2009 contract, you will get W2,000,000 (no flights). |
