I sort of agree. But I wanted to go seriously hardcore and do fulltime. It's kind of been something I've wanted to do. If I teach I know myself and I know I won't do anywhere near as much studying i'm ashamed to say.
Great advice lots of things to think about any other advice is much appreciated. B |
I think its best to go all out for one semester and then see how you feel and if you have enough time in your schedule for teaching as well. Look up some studying strategies and some memory techniques in Korea before you go. If you can learn a few hundred characters or even the basic radicals will make your life easier. A good book to start with for pre study is http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Chinese-Characters-Ms-Zhang/dp/7561912943 it shouldnt cost anything like that. A lot of koreans study chinese and BLCU books are the most popular so you should be able to get it somewhere in seoul or even download. It teaches the fundamentals of writing chinese as well as the history and background of the individual characters. Good luck anyway, I think learning Chinese is one of the best things I have ever done but just remember you are in for a lot of donkey work and sweat but its worth it. |

Thanks mate. The one semester idea is a good one.
Were you able to converse in Chinese pretty well after your first year of learning? How does it compare to Korean in difficulty? |

| My friend actually got a scholarship to study at Wuhan University. They pay him 2000 rmb to study Chinese at their university and it is a good university. I was offered a job there but the pay was only 4500 Rmb. |
