Yup. I don't see him on TV much, but I do see him drinking alone in Itaewon every once in a while.
Is that the wayguk co-host on that series of Korean lessons on youtube?

Is Issac Durst any different from those dopey western actors on the fox channel? The ones who can't act to save their lives?

Fair play to them though. They are doing something that they would not be doing back home. Its like 'chatting with beauties' Apart from a few of them the rest would have a hard time convincing anyone of their beauty - but they are here, they are white and someone gives a shite about their opinion whereas back home they would be working 40 hours a week in some crappy office like Kentucker or OnTheOtherSide.

So - good on Issac and the rest of the western lunatics that ham up the tv screens everyday!

What I really hate are those foreign actors/actresses on the "Surprise" show in Korea. You know the one where it is aimed at getting Koreans to guess if it is true or a pack of lies.

Most Koreans, like most Chinese and numerous other nationalities, haven't a bloody clue about people from other countries. To form an impression based on utterly limited exposure is a trick of wanting to know the world, which falls far short of the mark. But to say "I don't know" is a hard sentence for too many people.

So many people truly regard themselves as special, as though their being born wherever means something. They identify with this completely and it's sad. They want to belong to a group and be separate at the same time. I think this is all nonsense. Yet it seems to be the way of the world.

i've met him and know a bit about him. he is a pretty calm and cool guy, almost exactly the opposit of how you would imagine from tv.

from the cash he makes, i think everyone here would take his place in a heart beat.

anyways, anyone that talks shit about the guy doesnt know him and is either an idiot or is jealous.

It's good that he's drinking alone because he's obnoxious when he's drunk.

Another thing I've always wondered about Durst - how does he act around his Korean family? At Chuseok does he pour drinks for his older Korean relatives or do they send him off to another room to entertain the children? Does he bow or jump in like Krusty the Clown?

At any rate, he's getting old enough that he should soon enough find himself the victim of Korean ageism (and some 20-something soul-seller will no doubt come along to replace him).

when someone makes the bank he does, the korean family are pouring his soju with two hands and kissing his ars.

btw, his wife and kids like in america, so i am not sure how much he sees the inlaws anyways

Aside from the clown routine, he's not doing much (and possibly screwing up) the English of his audience. The methods don't work, right? From what I've seen, his shows are almost all translation and explanation in Korean. Getting 'um started early on how NOT to learn, he is.
Nice guy or not, he's being paid a ton to be a terrible teacher. Shame on him ( all the way to the bank), and shame on Korean educational TV folks in general.

Yeah a few times I've flipped through I've been outright amazed at the way his program teaches. If koreans can't understand the lessons in English they're not ready, nor should they care about learning advanced pronunciation styles and casual speak. That is the least of their concern. Not to mention I've seen him spout some nonsense about some of the concepts he was teaching.

Even on the adult shows he needs some serious medication.

I bought his book recently, something about 120 conversational topics for 12,800 won and it's the biggest load of crap I've seen in a while. He wrote 5-8 pages of diary-like "entries" on colours, for heaven's sake.

Quote:
You know, when I think of giving thanks for all that I have: my family, my health, the warm roof over my head. I think, "Wow. I sure have a lot to be grateful for!"

Sometimes, I DON'T stop and thank about what I have.
Sometimes, I take those people and things for granted.

As we near the time of our long holiday, I guess I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" from the bottom of my herat to all the people who are important in my life

Quote:
Another day, another color...

What comes to mind when YOU think of green?

I think of different things, like..

A cool green forest where I can walk with a friend.
A green leaf of lettucs to wrap my food in.
A green watermelon that I can share.
A green frog croaking away.

I also think of different imeages like...

A person who might be green with envy - who thinks that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Or

An uncle who has a green thumb. He is great at growing plants. His garden is beautiful.

Or

My boss giving me permission or a "green light" to go ahead with a project.
..

Stupid, really. Several of my students have complained about how stupid the entries are, and could they pleeeease do something else based on topics a bit more intelligent, like the newspaper? These are my kid students, too, a middle and a high school student. The elementary school kid I used to teach didn't like the colours at all.
