Like most people of my rough age group, I knew him as Mr. Roark on Fantasy Island. I was never a huge fan of that show, but he performed his duties with competence. I guess most Trekkies knew him as Khan.
I saw him interviewed a few times later in his career. He seemed like a classy guy.

I knew him from his Mexican roles in spaghetti Westerns. He certainly had a stage presence about him although he sometimes came across as a bit of a dandy.
You know you're getting older when most of the actors you admired start dropping like flies.
When I view the red carpet for the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards I hardly recognize most of the actors and most of those I do are not even cut from the same cloth. Acting kudos today are earned too quickly and usually for far less in performance demands than generations ago. A Brad Pitt can't begin to compare to a Steve McQueen, for instance.

That rang a vague bell, so I did a google...

Corinthian leather was a phrase invented for marketing use to describe the leather used in certain Chrysler luxury cars in the 1970s. In this case, "Corinthian" does not actually indicate any relationship with Corinth, nor any specific type of leather and was added simply as a linguistic cachet.

That's according to Wiki, anyway.

Let's not forget he was famous for popularizing "Corinthian leather" to describe the leather used in the Chrysler Cordoba. There's no such thing as Corinthian leather. The ad men just cooked up an adjective that would roll of his tongue. People still use the term today as a metaphor for something that's a silly and unnecessary adornment or feature, adding some kind of flash perceived by no one but the seller. |

I remember him in Fantasy Island and when he was doing commercials for Chrysler when their cars were pieces of crap (I actually owned a Dodge Neon before I came to Korea and it wasn't that bad of a car).
My mom owned a Dodge Aspen and oh my was that thing a lemon. She got rid of it well over 20 years ago, but still to this day regrets buying it. |

Corinthian sounds like
Corodovan(spelling help) which is a real, and expensive leather. |

We used to go to college in my friends Dodge Hornet. We called it the brown hornet (because its color was brown). He was a psychotic driver those days, and he may still be. |
