winter Saturday?
I went out for Brazilian bbq last night with a couple of students, had a great time, just enough soju to feel good. Woke up wanting something with dill in it so looked in AllRecipes and found Tomato Dill Soup. Been hungry for some tomato soup since last summer. It's simmering right now.
The disappointment of the day: Wanted some cheese bread to go with the soup. My yeast must be the laziest yeast in town. Threw it out and tried a different package and it was no better. Arg! |

Have you ever tried tomato soup cake? It's the best spice cake around. Really cool! Saw your title and couldn'r resist.
I'm going for some chicken soup later (sam gye tang). |

Anything better than tomato soup on a cold day? I hope so - never did like it. Too plain for my tastes, but most people do enjoy it. Lately, I've been getting that Tesco Thai Chicken soup. |

Definitely depends on the brand of Tomato sauce, unless you make it yourself. |

Gumbo is definitely a worthy competitor, although it would require me to make corn bread to go with it. Not a bad idea for next weekend. Thai food is generally a good idea. Haven't tried the soup from Tesco...is that the same place as HomePlus?
Grog sounds great--where can I get some spiced rum? Don't think I'd want it at 10:30 in the morning, though. Too early for my taste.
I've only heard of tomato soup cake. Never had a chance to try any.
Here's the recipe I found this morning, modified:
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, chopped
a bit of oil or butter
1 can of ready cut diced tomatoes from Costco (fresh would be even better)
1/2 can of chicken broth (beef would also be tasty)
1 carrot because I had one already peeled
a healthy pinch of dried dill (basil would be great)
salt (I skipped the salt because I used chicken bouillion)
pepper
1. Saute the onion and garlic
2. Add the tomatoes, chicken broth, carrot, salt, pepper and dill
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes
4. Puree and add some milk if you want cream of tomato soup
Zec crackers go good with it if you are running short of home-made cheese bread. |

TESCO is the UK majority owner of Homeplus ... so most likely place to find TESCO things is Homeplus |

Yeah, that Tesco Thai Chicken Soup is from Homeplus. It's in the asile with the foreign soups, spices, etc. It comes in a small box with about four packets and runs about 1,700 or 2,700 - something like that. It's definitely a main meal kind of thing, but it's great with a sandwich or as a small snack. |

I was at the Foreign Food Store in Itaewon yesterday. They had a few cans of actual, live Campbell's Tomato Soup. I didn't buy any. |
