The recession hasn't affected the real estate market down there? What about property values in Panama?

Things went all to hell in Central America. I arrived in August 2006 when it was happening in Costa Rica, worked my way to the top of a Central Pacific real estate company.

Then, three of us opened our own office in Panama City and we were starting to kick tail with some beachfront on The Pacific side...when everything collapsed last fall.

For the first time in 3 and 1/2 years I'm stateside and I'm here to tell you reverse culture shock is real. I have no maid. I can't go across town for $2.00. There aren't ten senorita's numbers in my cell phone...and it just goes downhill from there.

Looking to launch somewhere asap.

Thanks for the follow-up....myself and I'm sure others are quite curious of your story.

Sounds like you must have made a good run at it while you did...so what places do you have in mind now....?

What went wrong in Central America, would you say?

Basically what happened was the developer we were representing in Panama had a 5 million dollar credit line jerked and our investor decided $300k was enough to invest in us considering the market conditions, etc. So he pulled the plug and we had to let all of our employees go...and I limped into South Florida on fumes.

Then, after hanging with my friends in Florida for awhile and listening to everyone bellyache about the job situation and the economy...I made my way to my bro's house here in San Antonio where Im not sure what the hell I'm gong to do next.

Oh yeah--it was a real nice run; too bad saving money is not my exactly one of my strengths.

So it goes...
