Almost every foreign male I see now has the same style. They are all balding prematurely so they shave their heads. Ten years ago, they all wanted to grow their hair long so nobody would think they were military. What's up with the full moon feature look of 2009?

If you're balding prematurely, would you rather sport the Friar Tuck look or the 1890 school teacher look with hair only around the sides of the head, or would you prefer to look badass and shave it off ala Bruce Willis?

I shave my head every second day.I started to go bald at 21.I have accepted it and accepted the fact that white guys are starting to go bald younger because we are real men with lots of testosterone and other good things floating around.

The people you have seen are accepting their baldness and masculinity.
Cool

I'm a girl, but I get asked all the time to cut my guy friends hair b/c they can't explain what they want to a barber who doesn't speak any english. I'd guess that the shaved head look is common because it's easy to ask for.

1. It's easy. I have some friends who are grown-ass men, preening their hair with wax to get that just-out-of-bed look. I, OTOH, use a drop of shampoo and haven't owned a comb in years. I can wear stocking caps / toques in winter without worrying about hathair.

2. It's a clean look. With random grey hairs and a receding hairline, there aren't many styles that work out.

3. Oldtactics nailed it. It's simply too hard to find a hairstylist here that obeys the simplest of commands regarding a western haircut.

4. It sets us apart from the local nationals. Korean men think a shaved head is a sign of protest or membership in the mafia, so while they go to the beauty shop for a dye job and a sport cut, we're saving money by using the clippers we already own for manscaping.

5. It feels good, like velvet. Certain women can't resist rubbing it. Springtime breezes feel awesome.

I can't wait until my hair starts falling out. I've always wanted long hair and a big shiny dome like Franz Liszt. And he got mad chicks.

All of these. Not combing my hair every day is awesome.

Leave it to the yanks to pretend they invented skinheads first.

Could be evolution at work, turning into a hairless society. Anyone seen 'My Three Chrichtons' from the Farscape series?

Just an observation. I didn't know canucks referred to Americans as yanks. I guess I learned something new. Smile

As far as the shaved head thing goes; the horseshoe or cul-de-sac look isn't that becoming. Maybe that is why so many folically-challenged shave their heads?

Everyone wants to be badass like Vin Diesel I guess. Better than combovers or crappy wigs by far. Wink
